We have two cells that we are having an issue with when we lose power. When we get a power outage the robot powers back up into bootmon and fails to load anything at all. We lose all TP programs and have to image restore anytime we lose power. I know that you lose pulse coder data if there’s an issue with backup batteries but I’ve never seen the robot brick like this after power failure. Batteries have been replaced and power supply battery is okay also. Any pointers?
Fanuc R30iB loses image at power loss.

Usually this is a bad battery inside the controller on the main board. Have you replaced that one?
-
I’m gonna try changing it out. The battery is fine but I guess the pin connections might not be.
-
If the controller battery was low, I would expect a SYST-035 error.
If it loses SRAM after installing a new battery, try removing and reinstalling the daughter boards before loading in the new image. I would also look over the battery connection point.

Do these controllers schedule internal backups periodically?
I ask, as is it possible during a power outage, if a backup is in progress, could this be causing data corruption.
I say this as a 'throwing it in there statement' as I don't technically know Fanuc well enough to understand the internal reading/writing of data cycles within the controller and wondering if this could be a factor.
Kawasaki sometimes experience this, although I believe they have corrected this now.

I’m getting 3 volts on the board from the battery when I have the board pulled. It’s happened again so I’ll post pictures of the Teach Pendant when I cycle power.
-
Auto backup is also disabled.

First screen

second screen

and then ends up here. I’m getting power from the backup battery. It looks like SRAM is okay right now. But no FROM.

Ive had similar problem when the battery was removed and the controller was unplugged. Now when you turn on controller its a blank pendant screen. If i hold f1 f5 and do a cold start boot mon screen comes up. I dont know what to do from there? What do i select? I dont care about sram data being lost do i have to do an image backup? We had this same issue before with a blank tp screen and someone got it back to normal all mastering was wiped etc. but thats ok. Any suggestions?

What is the controllertype you are using ?
Did you ever make a backup of the controller ?

I've lost power, I've factory reset, I've changed power supply's, I've changed battery's. But I always keep the programs and only have to mess with the Master. But I'm just speaking from 2 robots. Also I do have a question when saving to USB can it be any kind of usb or has to be a Fanuc one?

In my experience it can be any brand, as long as you format it in the robot.
-
kluk-kluk what do you guys use to format it I think I've used Notepad and Notepad + and it still didn't work

Menu > File > File
[UTIL] > Set Device (make sure you select the USB)
[UTIL] > Format > Yes

I would expect your SRAM to be cleared or corrupted with frequent power outages. You should be able to init start because the controller software is stored on the FROM.
