Brake voltage usually can operate at >15VDC.
If brake voltage are too low, then will 'drag' and usually cause errors during very slow speed due to 'dragging' and possibly ok at high speed, but at high speed will wear down brake pad, making it ineffective and arm may drop when not powered then.
Try it across speed ranges in Teach mode and make notes on errors and we can look at that.

But i replaced motor too and error is still there. So i think it isnt the motor brake. Only not releasing but i checked on the other motor and that worked too. But i Will check tomorrow for the error code. Can i also post movie of the problem on the forum. If it is possible i post one.

Ah right, I thought you had problem on Joint 2 and swapped with Joint 4.
So you're problem is on Joint 4 then...….Yes, I think all minor axis are 1Kw.
The error codes will give me more indication of where to look.
Yes, you can post a movie, just make sure of the extension, I think mp4, mov and mpg are allowable formats.
There are limit levels for members, I think 8Mb for new members, but at mp4 format, you would not need that much.

So js10 has this error now after changing. But still no power.
-
Js 30
-
One at a time,...…………..
So the JS10 is now error free yes, except no motor power?
The JS30 displays error straight away, or only when you are in teach mode or in repeat mode and make move request?
-
No js010 i found out safety lines where not good wired. So i fixed it. No i got -1553 encoder response error jt1. So i replaced motor but no luck with that should i replace the board on the robot our better look Some where else?
-
Was going to suggest check safety as usually with a second hand robot, may not be corrected correctly.
Why do people ALWAYS change the motor immediately when encoder response errors occur...…….I always scratch my head.....
If it will reach, swap encoder cables between JT1 and JT2 (But do not try and move robot).
- If error moves, then harness issue.
- If error remains, then board issue.
-
Remember also, back of JS Robot, the encoder signal cable connection is not very good due to strain, many times I have seen this as being the problem.
Check for connection and stable/firm connection.
-
Yes i had extra motor with same serial. So simple test. But i checked and is it the robot board or controller or just testing?
-
All Encoder signals go to 1GE board, I think CN3.
So either harness between 1GE board is problem, or 1GE board.
But do check connector on back of JS Arm for encoder signals, this is common problem for old robots due to strain and pin/socket intermittency.
-
I think this was the problem of the 1ge card i guess 🙈 is there a possibility to swap motor 1 and 2 encoder from the controller side?
- replaced motor board on robot
- i swapped cables
-
Js030 i got those error and toggle between two positions. I cant sent the movie because it is in wrong format.
-
swap motor 1 and 2 encoder from the controller side?
This is what I suggested on the Robot arm itself.
I think on JS, all encoder signals are separate harness connected from encoder to 1FG board (located inside robot base).
So by moving these encoder signals to different motors (but do not try moving motor), then you can prove if cable is problem or 1GE.
Error will remain as JT1 of 1GE board is problem, if error changes, then suspect cable.
Have you definitely checked/confirmed connection on back of arm is good.
-
I swapped 1ge board and still running. But same error. So must be somewhere between the robot board and 1ge control board. Am i correct if that Will be only wires? No prints?
-
Looks like possible gearbox problem in Joint 4.
- When was last time grease replaced?
- If motor is removed, how freely does physical limb rotate by hand, can you hear grinding noises.
- Give it many rotations and see if any tight spots you can feel.
-
If 1GE board is swapped and same (assuming 1GE board is not same problem), then yes, should be wiring issue if motor encoder is good.
-
Js010 Yes swapped the motor already and that didnt work. So i Will measure the wires AMD let you know the result.
-
Js 030 it is same motor as the js 010. So i swapped this but the result is the same. I thought it was the gearbox too but i removed it from the robot so motor is freely rotating. Breaks are also released
