good evening
I am trying to configure a hilsher devicenet/modbus coupler on an S4 M2000.
I have the io / plus option so I should be able to do it but I don't remember if and how to declare a DN generic
can anyone help me?

first DN generic is the right way
after reboot you should receive some messages with right values
Been a long time, but this is an example I dug out of one of my old backups of EIO.CFG:
EIO_UNIT_TYPE:
-Name "Virtual" -VendorName "ABB" -ProductName "Virtual unit"
-Name "DN_GENERIC" -BusType "DNET" -DN_ExplicitMsgEnabled \
-DN_C1OutputSize -1 -DN_C1InputSize -1
-Name "d320" -BusType "DNET" -VendorName "ABB Robotics"\
-ProductName "120 Vac Unit" -DN_VendorId 75 -DN_ProductCode 1\
-DN_DeviceType 7 -DN_MajorRev 1 -DN_ExplicitMsgEnabled -DN_C1Interval 50\
-DN_C1OutputSize 2 -DN_C1InputSize 2

IRC5 yes, S4, no.
This is a snippet from S4C+.

EIO_UNIT:
-Name "SW_BOARD" -Type "eip000" -Bus "SIM" -Address "9" -Digin 16\
-Digout 16
-Name "SIM_BOARD" -Type "eip000" -Bus "SIM" -Address "0x1" -Digin 25\
-Digout 25
-Name "SWMG_BOARD" -Type "eip000" -Bus "SIM" -Address "0x3" -Digin 25\
-Digout 25
-Name "DP_SIMBOARD" -Type "eip000" -Bus "SIM" -Address "6" -Digin 16\
-Digout 16 -Anin 4 -Anout 4
-Name "BOARD11" -Type "d327" -Bus "BASE" -Address "11" -Digin 16\
-Digout 16 -Anout 2
-Name "BOARD10" -Type "d350" -Bus "BASE" -Digin 66 -Digout 64\
-PollRate 100 -Param "BOARD10_VAL"
The Major revision and minor revision are not required, and, if included could cause a mismatch fault if you have to replace the board.
This may help, its from the I/O plus manual.
Thank you.
in the end I could not define the DN-GENERIC but I solved it by adding the unit description to the EIO file
