If it's an IDE hard drive, check the manual mode jumpers and make sure they match the original.

Which controller? Krc1, krc2 ..?
Is a CD Rom installed?
What's the capacity of the hdds?
On old controllers big hdds make trouble. Then you have to set the parameters in bios manually.And sometimes you have to set some jumpers on the hdd.

Also, most newer controllers use solid-state drives (SSDs) instead of HDDs. And KRC4s use SATA rather than IDE.

If you are using a KRC2 controller these work fine. (see picture)

We had some problems with the cloning software, ghost 11 works fine.

Make sure you format them before you put the image on it.

If you haven't formatted it, it won't be detected. If it's ssd, some older KRC2s won't detect. Best way if the other drive is still functioning is to clone the original onto modern computer and restore that drive to new hd. Programs such as acronis do this very well. It will format your new drive exactly as the old one. When computer boots up connected to new hard drive enter into bios and detect new hd. You'll have to figure that out specific to your bios. It will detect one way or another but setting the right hd parameters will make it run much faster. Save and boot. Enjoy your new hd with a solid back up if anything else goes wrong.

Did you use Gost on the KRC2 or did you extract the disk?
My KRC2 ed05 has no CD and i am thinking to install some old ide CD and try it a boot

No i use ghost 11 or some other cloning software on a seperate pc.
Create an image from the existing hdd and put it on the new one.

So yes, take out the disk from the controller.

lots of people have ideas...what's your motherboard and bios? they are all different.

This is a normal HDD .From KUKA C2 series on, we have been in use of the software -Acronis for image backup and restore.With this software, we have never met up with blue or black screen with it, however GHOST did.
