Hi, i'm using a ES165 on a DX100 controller with VMS1000 rotary manipulator for CNC machining. The guys from Yaskawa South Africa set it up for endless rotation, but when running the CNC operation on the external axis i get a Alarm 4981 DEST PULSE MECHANICAL LIMIT [S1:MAX 1] alarm. The pulse value when the alarm occurred was S1: 99973830.

Does the external axis really support endless rotation or is it still limited by pulses. The MReset function also doesn't seem to prevent this from happening.

Any advise or assistance will be greatly appreciated.

You must clear the variabile that store the rotation.ask them to give You the documentation.

Check the motor you are using. Only the Sigma V motors reset the encoder with endless rotation. If you have and older Sigma III or Sigma II the encoder will still count up to it's maximum and you will run into this alarm.

Do you have the ST1 tag on your MRESET?

I know a thing or two, because I’ve seen a thing or two. Don't even ask about a third thing. I won't know it.

Check if FD004 is set to 1. FD004 is endless rotation =1 is enable and =2 is Enable without MREST command
As I know the diference is with MREST you achive greater accuracy, that i think is important for you.
