Hi!
I am new to industrial robots but I have been using computer controlled Motion control robots for filming. I own a MILO motion control from mark roberts.
Now I'm thinking about buying a used Kuka KR 150 L110 with the (v)KRC2 controller for my own personal hobby purposes and I have a few questions:
What are the biggest pitfalls in buying a used machine. The Milo for instance needs almost CONSTANT maintenance. There is not a single part of that machine that I have not repared/replaced/rewired/dismantled/soldered/resoldered/hit and or kicked and I'm a little worried that I will end up wit another problem machine on my hands.
I have gotten a fair price on the KUKA but the machine is in Germany and i'm in Sweden so I will not be able to inspect it. (and I really wouldnt know what to look for)
What info should i ask the seller to provide? I hear that there is a special KUKA windows version on the controller so I guess I should try to get that. Is that anything I could ask KUKA for if the seller doesn't have it? what is their price?
The KSS software CD:s? Can that be bought/downloaded if it is not included? Price? Is it just to install it or do i need a license key or something like that?
The machine has been used in a large plant. BMW i guess. I would not be surprised if it is configured to "talk" to a lot of external gizmos. How hard are they to set up initially? Is there a "factory reset" or a "safe mode" type thing that lets you start the machine without external dependencies if there are any?
Less inportant:
The machine in question has the longer L110 arm. How does it work internally? can i just remove the extension if i wanted a shorter arm (better precision) or do I need additional parts if i wanted to "downgrade" to the short arm?
