hello all. I see that in the DCS manual SSI is explained for each individual number. How about the other safety I/O? Id like to have a list of all of them but i am particularly looking for SIR[4] and SIR[1]. Any information will be helpful thanks everyone.

Hi ezraseth,
SIR[1-64]
Safe Internal Relay
Internal relay that can be used in Safe I/O connect.
Status is OFF at power up.
I haven't used them but I believe these can be used as general purpose "relays" , maybe as temporary variable.. or in combination with safety (fanuc robot) pmc.
So no (advanced) description is needed/possible.

This is correct. By default the SIRs have no function. The function of a SIR is user defined and depends on its usage in Safe I/O Connect.
We normally use SIRs to create more complex logic in Safe I/O Connect.
-
okay so SIR 4 is labeled as (Memo_Estop) you are saying that this was set up and labeled in the PLC? So its a user defined condition that must be met? And in order to see what it is tied to, the PLC will need to be viewed?
-
I understand now...quick question. Would anyone happen to know where to find this in Studio 5000?
-
If you are talking about a real application that probably means that someone used SIR[4] in Safe I/O Connect for whatever logical connection and entered the comment "Memo_Estop" to SIR[4]. To find out what SIR[4] really does, you have to view your DCS Safe I/O Connect and search for SIR[4]. You can also post e.g. a picture of it that we can also have a look on it.

okay so just the reasoning im trying do this...the integrators have made a function on the HMI for one of the robots to be jogged with the fence open. For whatever reason it only goes to one robot. The other robots in the cell are not tied into that function. I want to be able to jog the robot with the fence open for mastering purposes and or touchups. The fence fault goes away in T1 mode but i still get SSO[3: C_EXEMG] . this is due to SIR[4: Memo_EStop] OR SIR [1: BypassNoPLC_Connect].
All i want is to be able to jog the pendant in T1 mode with the fence open. If i use SSO[3]=SIR[4] OR SSI[8 : T1].....then what i want to accomplish works but i need to know what SIR[1] does before i leave the machine since this is Safety related. I will attach a picture for clarification.

ehh im on my phone and cant seem to figure out how to post picture

i dont have that option. Just the face and the gear.
-
This is maybe due to missing user rights?! Okay, did you already check your connections for the usage of SIR[4] under MENU > SYSTEM > DCS > Safe I/O Connect.
-
this is the line that throws the DCS fault that is holding me out from jogging with the fence open
SSO[3]=SIR[4] OR SIR[1]
what else do i need to be looking for?
-
SIR[1] and SIR[4] are either used in Safe I/O Connect (e.g. SIR[4]=condition) or they are directly used in one of the configured safety functions (CPC, JPC, etc.). If you cannot find them in Safe I/O Connect you should check all the safety functions configured in your system.

SSO[3] is the external emergency stop signal. Are there any messages displayed in your TP screen when trying to jog the robot?
-
By safety functions configured in the system are you referring to something in the PLC? Ill go through all of the DCS setup screens to see if i see anything.
-
ill double check but i think it just says system is in error status. The only fault on the screen after opening the gate, enabling the tp, going to t1 is dcs sso emergency stop.

If the SIRs are connected to a safe signal coming from the PLC you will find it in Safe I/O Connect. If not, then the SIRs are probably used in one of the safety functions configured in the DCS setup on the robot side.

Okay, thanks for clarification. I just wanted to make sure that there is no other error preventing the robot from moving.

If it is still not possible for you to upload an image you could also send me an AoA backup (if you are allowed to do) via PM.
-
Not sure exactly what you need to see. I have however looked through all dcs setup parameters and no disabling inputs are setup as SIR. in fact jpc cpc csc and jsc dont have disabling inputs set up at all. Im guessing this is coming from the PLC
