Hi!
I am a student of the mechanical engineering faculty in Slovenia with a personal project of fixing a used kuka kr210 robot. I found a really good-priced one in not working condition because the previous owner bought it only for a polyester foam tool that was sold in pair with the robot which he then didn't use.
My father who has electrical and programming background fixed some wiring and after a particularly weird card swap (just in and out), the hand controller finally showed some signs of life (previously the PC / video card didn't even boot).
But here we stumbled on a current problem. After bios, windows loading stopped with an error message:
STOP: c0000218 {Registry File Failure}
The registry cannot load the hive (file): \SystemRoot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE or its log or alternate. It is corrupt, absent, or not writeable.
Of course i first made a full backup and tried to recover lost data from the original drive with different software (recuva, windows embedded (chdsk function etc.) but to no avail.
The next logical step was to run reinstall from the D drive partition, but as i started .exe file it wanted me to select configuration files which, as I saw in recovery programs were exactly in corrupted files.
The problem is that although I have an installation floppy disk and manuals I can't reinstall the software to a new hard drive because the floppy doesn't work either (it is not even being registered in two different readers).
The version has also been upgraded by someone from Windows 95 (VKRC2) to XP (KRC2).
The robot is a BMW edition with some custom safety features and the following specs:

I have registered my robot on Kuka website and asked for support, however they are not inclined to help in the used market.
The main reason for this post is that I don't know what to do next and would be extremely grateful if you could give me some advice. I know that asking for copyrighted software is not desired so I am inclined to any other suggestions.
Despite that my faculty has classes and a robotic department they are all in higher classes (I am in seniour year) and I doubt that they are dealing with such problems. I did ask for some contacts but haven't yet been able to get a response.
I know I am asking a lot as I have gotten myself into not so beginner friendly project, however so far it has been a very insightful lesson and would like to continue to maybe do some milling with sprut CAM which I do have some experience with my small CNC router or maybe in future even some metal 3D printing.
Thanks in advance
PS. in the attachments I added some photos to maybe clarify situation. Currently I have very limited time for side projects so please excuse me if I stated some things wrong and don't worry about the robots lack of fixation and working area, this is just a temporary position.
