I have see many industrial robot / manipulators which are taught certain things by repeating the same process by an instructor. Can't we just write a program that could dictate the robot to perform complex tasks ?

I think you just described the entire AI research field.
-
Sir, Can you describe in short what advancement we have made in teaching a industrial robot doing a thing ( AI research field)?
-
This sounds like a homework question. Tell me what you have found first, and I will comment on it.
-
What are ways by which we could teach a manipulator to perform certain tasks? How much time is required to teach a manipulator?
-
It usually takes me anywhere from 5 minutes to 17 months to teach a manipulator depending on complexity of the task. My ex was a manipulator and I was never able to teach her anything.
-
I sense sarcasm
-
Could anyone please tell me seriously how a manipulator is trained and what is the process and how much time it takes?
-
I need to know your background, then I can relate my answer to something that you compare.
Do you any computer programming languages background ?
Do yo have any mechanical background ? What about electrical ?
I've been doing this for 25 years and with the overtime maybe another 10 and I'm still learning . I just posted a question 3 days ago because I didn't know how to set a parameter

Basically I am a electronics student and I want to create a manipulator whose end effector must be like human hand. Also I want that whole manipulator to perform almost all complex process the human hand does? The main problem is how to program such a thing or teach it to do complex process. How can we do so? In several videos I have seen humans teaching manipulator to do some complex process? Also no such manipulator is created that is very close to human hand. I am just asking how to program or teach it in a way it acts like a human hand.?

What your asking for is very complicated. Too complicated to be answered on a forum. It is like asking "how do you create a spaceship that can travel to Mars".
You are basically asking us to answer a question that would take years of work. So no, we can't answer this question. Instead you have to learn.
For a start why don't you learn about servo motors.
-
I am learning the kinematics of manipulator . Also there is a robot called Moley that could handle several objects used in kitchen like knifes and cook food ( over 100 dishes). So I think it is not that much tough to get a robot to do cooking.
-
Well it took them 5 years and over 1 million dollars and they still haven't launched a product yet, so yeah pretty easy.
I suggest you start out much simpler. Learn about kinematics and servo control. Then get a single servo to move to position. Then keep adding to it as you learn.
-
Ok,I got it. If they can do it i can also do it
Thanks for the advice.

Que genial e interesante, me encanta todo esto

1. get some manipulator (buy or build it yourself)
2. connect it to a controller
3. program controller to move manipulator the way you want
"teaching" can be many things
one very basic form is to simply record series of values (position samples for example)
while manipulator is controlled somehow (either by hand, through controls or by program)
and use this recorded data set to replay the motions.

I have written a post on my blog and What Is Industrial Robot. If you want you can read from there.
