    Hello all,

I've got another problem with Work Visual that I'm hoping to resolve. I've got a 2014 KRC4 Std with KSS 8.3.10 installed, along with several options. I'm trying to build a new project in work visual to deploy to the robot but am having a problem with one specific option package, GripperSpotTech. I've pulled the KOP file from the D:\ drive an installed it into Work Visual, and it registers as version 3.2.0.3. Unfortunately when I go to deploy the project I get the error: "The option 'GripperTech' reference in the Project in the controller "" is not installed in WorkVisual. Please install the option in version '3.2.0.3'"

I've built the project without the option but I get a number of errors on the robot relating to undeclared variables, data types, ect.

I'm sure I'm missing something stupid again, can anyone help me out?

    Thanks in advance!

What WV version are you using?

You "installed the KOP in WV" -- how, exactly?

Did you try unchecking the "prevent code generation" box under Editors>Options>Rules?

WorkVisual 6. Installed by downloading the KOP to my local PC, open the Option packages management dialog, selected the active profile, then the '+' button, select the .KOP file, follow the on screen dialog box.

I just tried deselecting "prevent code generation" and I was able to deploy, but the robot is still riddled with compilation errors upon startup and SPS.sub will not start. Looking at the errors they all seem to be related to gripper tech.

Maybe I should just uninstall gripper tech on the robot? This is an used robot and this option is not a requisite for the new application.

    Thanks

Sometimes, KOPs are ot compatible with some WorkVisual releases.

Try unninstall and install KOP again, to see if You get some message.

And You also can try an older WorkVisual.

I personally recommend 4.0.31, that You can download from KUKA download site.

WoV 6.x is very buggy when working with older robots.

Forgot to menstion: You can have WoV 4.x, 5

.x and 6.x intalled in parallel in your computer.

So You won't loose anything important from WoV 6.x

The only point is that You can use only one version each time. They don't work together, at same time.

If you don't need GripperTech, I would recommend removing it from the robot and from WV. The installer will remain on the D drive, so you can always re-install it later if you want.

And I agree that using WV 4 or 5 would probably be better with a version of KSS that old.

I ended up removing GripperTech for now, build went well and I only had to clean up a few INI folds to remove my remaining errors. I tried building in WV5 as well, but had the same problem and was hoping 6 would fix it. I have WV3 & 4 on my old laptop, guess I should probably consider installing it on my current laptop as well.

I've contacted Kuka to try and update this robot from 8.3.10 to a later 8.3.X build, I've run into a few other buggy things that probably warrant the update.

    Thank you all

I am guessing that you did not read and follow documentation. Option need to be installed on KRC. This also modifies files like $config.dat, templates and program modules then you should take project from KRC that contains all modifications. And after this you should integrate the option into WoV

    1) read pinned topic: READ FIRST...

    2) if you have an issue with robot, post question in the correct forum section... do NOT contact me directly

    3) read 1 and 2

I have read the documentation and it show that

"GripperSpotTech is installed in WorkVisual and added to the project. During

project deployment, the option package is automatically installed on the robot

    controller"

So i do that and not ok

Thank Sir for your comment and You said "Option need to be installed on KRC" that's mean install GripperSpotTech ' Kop file on KRC?

there are different generations of KSS and KOPs. newest crop of software products allows one to do as you stated (if both KSS and WoV are recent). but this does not work with older ones - one must first install option on the KRC, then take project from KRC that was modified by installer. and yes, KSS8.3 is the older one...

do not just read WoV documentation - info there is mostly generic. for details you need to check out documentation of the specific option or KSS.

On the older KSS 8.3.x versions, You need to install Option Package on robot, and KOP in WoV.

But I believe on the lastest versions of KSS 8.3.x, GripperSpotTech must be installed through WorkVisual, solely. If You check drive D:, You will find only the KOP, not the KSS installer.

You need to download the active project from controller, from WorkVisual insert the KOP on it, and after that, generate code and deploy the project again.

By the way, what WoV version You are using?

KOP file is a container file (like ZIP(. It may contain different things, such as installer, documentation, WoV plugin etc. not every KOP file contains same elements. for example this is why integrating KOP into WoV was optional or early options did not come in KOP form at all.

If you do not know ho to extract documentation from it use Xpert to get the manual.

Documentation tells you (among other things) how to instal that specific product. You can also ask KUKA for assistance.

Best option would be using the same GripperSpotTech that you have in the robot. If You have access to the robot, You can pick the KOP in KUKA_OPT folder, inside D: drive.

I think in the case of GripperSpotTech You can even pull it directly from controller through WorkVisual, without the need of going through Windows to reach D: drive.
