I'm working on a XRC system, cards will not format on the robot (16 & 32mb varieties). I know they're good as i've used them on fanucs and nachis. Motoman told me to format them on a win95/98 system, which I don't have. What are you guys using to format these as, i would assume, fat12/16?
XRC PCMCIA card, what to format it with?

I have only had luck formatting with Windows 95 Millenium Edition.
Ask some guys around work if they have a home computer with Windows 95. That is how we got it to work.

Ok, lets throw out the idea of performing this on a windows 95/98 machine. Does anyone know of a piece of software that will allow me to format a pcmcia card (on a XP machine) for use in a XRC controller?
-
When I have one that doesn't read on the XRC, I format it on our Fanuc RJ3iB and it reads fine after that. The Recovery Manager software recommended by Motoman did not work on my laptop with XP - the card still wouldn't read.

I use Winimage. I have a 32 meg card I made an image of and when I get a card that does not work I over write the card with the image that works. I've done the same thing with 64 Meg cards. Just to be on the safe side I made images of my 128 and 256 for the NX robots.
The only thing I use Recovery Manager for is to make sure the card is a Sandisk. I have some that have the Sandisk sticker on the outside and do not work in an XRC that Recovery Manger says are Hitachi.
The other way I fix cards it to put them in a Unix machine I have and format them in that.

I was unaware of the Vaiosoft recovery software until posted in here. Checked into it, worked for my 16mb card.
-
It is FAT12 format. 2 options from me .
1. "Recovery Manager" from Vaiosoft as edbanks suggested
2. Try to format a card in the digital camera. I tried it with Nikon and Cannon. Work well as long as your camera is Old enough to have a CF slotPS: You could also Divide your CF into 2 partitions. one normal and one FAT12. This way, one card can fit all. (XRC, NX, DX). But it is much faster to use a USB memory on DX.
Good Luck.

i need some help with backing up my xrc. I keep getting a 3080 error.
I'm not sure whats going on. We've had a card in it before and it worked.
I know the card has to be a smaller one, we bought a couple 64mb compactflash Sandisk SDCFBI
The adapter is sandisk aswell.
The instructor had his own card and it was giving him errors while copying but we figured out his card was to big (256),but it did see it
and when he brought in a smaller one, it worked fine.
I keep getting the error before i can even pick what i want to save. And when i choose format, its all asterisks under card info.
Its the same error if no card if installed as well.
I've tried to reformat the card with a fat12. That didn't work either. I even deleted the partition on the card. no go.Oh ya... None of my laptops have any problems seeing or accessing the either cards.
I bought other cards to. eFilm Compactflash Delkin Devices ddcffls2-064.... They did not work either. What am i missing?

No straight answer here as you may have already gathered.
We have over the years found something that works one minute doesn't the next. What we do now is buy from <http://www.memorysupplies.com> Sandisk 16 & 32 mg. CF. If they are genuine sandisk and not a Kodak hybrid they will work. Problem is you can end up with the nonworking hybrids.
we once purchased 50x 32mg Sandisk that turned out to be Chinese Kodak, these didn't work in XRC but work fine in OTC robot controllers.
We are at present getting in 20x 16mg sandisk CF , when they arrive we will let you know if they work or not.
What works in XRC will work in NX100 visa versa is Size dependent anything above 16 in XRC is an issue.

OOPPS. Thats <memorysuppliers.com>

As promised , I report success with the last batch of Sandisk 16MB Compact Flash Cards we have received from <http://www.memorysuppliers.com> ph. 800-979-9707 , they are genuine Sandisk CF. Being 16MB they will run in all XRC & NX100 controllers.
This Size ,16MB, is not always easy to get ,the dates show they have come from hidden stock somewere, so if you need any I would advise it. $9 each. -
Thanks, we ordered a card in from somewhere, it worked. Not sure what it is though, some sort of industrial make card.
-
I check with a 128Mb CF card and works perfect!
-
IF YOU HAVE PROGRAM THAT IS USE FOR COPYING MRC ROBOT, YOU MAY NOT NEED PCMCIA CARD AND COMPACT FLASH. BUT REMEMBER YOU HAVE TO SET THE BAUD RATE 19200. I HAVE TRIED IT AND WORK.
IT IS HARD TO FIND 16MB SANDISK COMPACT FLASH.
ONLY SANDISK ORIGINAL WILL WORK.

I've tried a PCMCIA Hitachi 16MB, it can only use to save small file, with large file, controller will say: "alarm 3080".
Any one can tell me exactly the name of sandisk card can work with XRC. (Sandisk SDPA3A, .. 3b OR something)?. Can I use a card in eby as the link
http://www.ebay.com/itm/32MB-PCMCI…=item20d46ad2d0I see that some PC card support DMA mode, and most other not support. Do I need a card with DMA mode support?, Industrial grade or standard grade?

Hope someone can give me the picture of one sandisk pcmcia card / cf card can work with xrc. Name or model of card also ok!
thank!
