Hello All,
I am fairly new to this. We have a brand new KUKA CR4 robot/controller with a SmartPad, not using Workvisual, connected to a siemens 317 F-CPU. I've configured the Siemens safety PLC and program correctly, I'm setting all the correct reserved bits, established comms with the robot, can move the robot now, everything is happy. However, whenever I recompile and download the PLC's safety program, the PLC has to go in stop, and the robot gets an error "Safe Device Communciation Error ProfiNet Device." The only way I've found to clear this so far is to disconnect the robot from the network, push "Reconfigure IO drivers" in the IO configuration in the Configure > IO tab (still not really sure what that is doing), put the PLC in stop, reconnect the controller to the network, then put the PLC in run! I know there has got to be a much easier way to do this, as we will be making many safety changes while starting up our machine. Unfortunately, I cannot find much literature on Kuka and Profinet to figure out exactly what is happening. Does anyone have any more information that could help me? It's much appreciated, thanks.
