hi, I hope somebody could tell me how to or what is needed to upgrade KRC2 cabinet running win95 to run winXP software (besides the software). I guess what I am asking is that is the difference in hardware between win95 and winXP.
Thanks

Change DSE IBS 3.0 board to DSE IBS C33
hi Fluke,
just wanted to make sure that only the DSE IBS C33 needs to be replaced and I can use my old MFC card. I looked at the KPS that was running win XP and it looked like it had newer MFC card.
Thanks
You can use old MFC ISA base board. You need dismantle old DSE IBS and install new DSE IBS C33.
MFC ISA (MFC2) or MFC PCI (MFC3) not important.
Note: If you have robot in the production, You can't restore old backup to robot Because V4.X.X and V5.X.X software is different.
you need more ram also
never had to change a mfc but its been while since a did but defo more ram
you need more ram alsonever had to change a mfc but its been while since a did but defo more ram

Hey Fluke,
Did you ever get around to upgrading? If so, how did it go?
no not yet, still looking for that card, its not very easy to find for a good price.
If it's a GM version don't bother, I just went through this
really? could you tell me why and what happen?
Thanks
Any word on this? We have an after market GM robot and we are looking to upgrade
I don't think it would be hard to upgrade to win XP, but the problem is that the GM cabinets have custom wiring to DSE card and there for you can't just replace the card without replacing wiring and maybe more stuff. Why are you looking to update/upgrade? from all my research you really don't get anything out of it, except if you are trying to integrate with something else and maybe USB support.
I'm looking to do the same thing...mostly so I can run DirLoader for large milling programs to run in one click of go versus trickle feeding them in myself. You need winxp to run it.
About DirLoader and run with one click large milling programs...
Dir Loader normally can save old files from R1/Program, then delete all of them, upload all new modules (src, dat) , files(src only) from a source directory defined in config.dat and delete all of them again.
But, R1/Program has a limited memory size, mine is 30 mb (depends of value of Physical Pages setting in regedit) and even that files will be uploaded by DirLoader or it is done manual copying from USB stick, 30 mb will be the limit of program size.
To run large program files having more than R1/Program memory size, it is necessary to write a program based on DirLoader commands able to change source directory after a set of modules have been uploaded, ran and deleted.
So Dir Loader will upload modules/files from a next source directory folder and so on if many more are necessary, I think the limit is having 5 sources and 5 path to them. It is possible that robot to stop up to 5 seconds when delete and upload new folder if the program is large, therefore process wil not be perfect continous, but 5 seconds is not too much if restart automated and go on forward milling process.
Thanks Signum.
I misspoke though. I meant CAMRob as mentioned here: https://www.robot-forum.com/robotforum/kuk…70507/#msg70507
All of it is null and void if the upgrade isn't doable though. I'm trying to not be the one to try
