This system variable probably does not exist, since system variables life inside the VxWorks brain of the robot controller and VxWorks does not know anything about the Windows SmartHMI language settings because it simply does not need it.

Hi Bulo, which KSS version are you talking about? There's no system variable available, but we have a small solution called "ExtensionPack" for KRC4. You can download it from our webpage and test it without charge. Come back if you need further advice.

LANGUAGE TO ENGLISH:
Precondition:
External USB keypad must be connected to the SmartPad
Procedure:
1. Switch to Windows CE interface by turning the keyswitch on the SmartPad and unmount the robot
by pressing the button that decouples / couples the robot. There is a blue light inside the button on the
screen when the robot is coupled and nothing when decoupled.
2. Press the Windows Start button or CTRL ESC and open Microsoft WordPad under Programs.
3. Select File -> Open and then, under Type, select "All Documents (*.*)".
4. In the folder NAND_Flash\ROBKCP , open the file "kcp.conf".
5. In the section "language = de", change "de" to "en".
6. Save file
7. Disconnect and reconnect smartPad to have modifications take effect. This is pre V8.3 mind you, but it should still work with the new Win7 pendants.

JonHopper: that allows changing language but not monitoring what language is currently selected.

what if you want to do something in program and not let operator login and browse files...?
Bulo: what is your real need? why are you interested in this? if it is message programming, you need to look at setting up KXRs and using #KEY option
