Does any one know what it tacks to reload software on a KRC4? Can it be done with out the USB that comes with the robot? Is the file named Kuka_Release on the D: drive the core software?

I've never done it, but I've been told that an image and the recovery USB is the only way

for KRC4 you do need recovery stick.

I think the sick it's self is bad. it doesn't show up when you plug it in.

As long as you have a copy of the image stored on the stick then you could get another USB from Kuka.
There are two files in the \Image directory, one for each drive.

It seems to be USB drive and hardware protection like iLok, in one yes?

No it's not like ilok really.
The recovery USB can restore any image created by any recovery stick to any controller.
When you restore, the controller must look for something on the USB, possibly hardware related, as even if you clone the Kuka USB to a standard USB it doesn't work.

So it's different kind of hardware protection. Sucks.

Now that I the Thing working again I'm going to image the Hard Drive.
