I use 1 of 2 programs to convert to text files. But really any ftp server will work.
I use either FileZilla, or Total Commander. Then I just upload all the files to my pc and it converts everything that is convertable. I have documents on how to set it up if anyone wants them. All over Ethernet of course.

It appears that people are continuing to ask the same question over and over again.
Andreic has a nice list of instructions in a PDF posted several posts above this one. That is the process and you have to follow all of the instructions carefully. The virtual robot must have the same software version (e.g. 8.30) and same software options that you are using in your program. If it is not working for you then please re-read his instructions and ensure you have everything set up correctly with the virtual robot.
I use this process on a daily basis with no issues. Just have to remember to create a new robot.ini file when I am working with different software or options. If you are using a very new model robot or software, then you will need to get the updated software from OPLCPro or RoboGuide.

It is very simple.
Insert USB on TP. Go to MENU>FILE>FILE>UTILITY(F5)>SET DEVICE> select USB ON TP>
Select appropriate folder on your USB.
Press BACKUP>ASCII Program>ALL
All your program will be saved in .LS format that you can open in notepad

Hello again fellas.
Is there anyone who can help me with this one. I'd like to view my teach pendant (TP) programs on my PC in a format that looks like the line code I see on the teach pendant screen itself.
All my TP programs that I've backed up consist of files that have the ".tp" extension. Opening these files in Notepad (or any other word processor) doesn't give any legible view. It's just a bunch of archaic characters and symbols.
I've heard that there's a way to convert these files (or maybe uploading the files in some other kind of format) that will allow me to open the TP program on my computer in Notepad and see the line code just as they appear on the teach pendant screen.
Can anyone help me with this? I appreciate any help.
Thanks!

How to do to convert to LS?
Thanks

Search the forum for maketp.exe
-
TXT and LS are the same thing, just a different file extension.

If some one is looking for some tool for automatic converting all *.ls to *.tp so I can give a simple console app which making it. But anyway you need to take files from WinOLPC for initialization robot.ini and maketp.exe compiler.
Forgive me I have no knowledge of the robots but am a fast learner. I have the batch cmd files from mininel post #13 and it works good. It did convert all the TP files from a memory card to TXT.
You see I am helping a robot operator in the shop, I am in engineering, he wants to edit the programs on a laptop and copy them back to the memory card. The robots we have must be 10+ years old? I also don't have any fanuc software, maybe I could find old install disk but I bet they would be for WinXP.
The robots are R-2000/A 125L, I have no knowledge of them and we are fab shop with these robots being used on a press brake. You can see pictures at our website, epmp.com. Anyway. Scotty, are you able to get me the cmd to convert back to TP from the TXT file programs? I tried just changing the batch file to "maketp.exe" but am not sure if the syntax of the cmd is correct because it didn't generate the TP file. I also tried to load TXT and LS on the pendant, it didn't want to load though... am I reading this correct, that may have cost extra for the "feature"? In the FILE MENU it has all the types to load and can load TP just fine, but anything else says "file *** is not loadable".
Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Maketp.exe is a program that comes with RoboGuide, OLPCPro, or WinOLPC. You have to have purchased one of those software items from Fanuc to get it, you cannot just name a random file Maketp.exe and expect it to become a new Software program.
If you have one of the above mentioned Programs or purchase them then I can help guide you along the next steps. The other option is to Purchase the ASCII upload option to install on each robot, then they will take .ls files directly.
Also, you need to know how you plan to transfer the files. On newer robots it can be done over ethernet or USB. On older ones you may need an RS-232 cable and old XP laptop.
