I have a KUKA KR210 with KRC2 controller. I am having this issue where copying external src files through the HMI would lead to the system being stuck at the message 'insert files...' and the HMI would freeze. I was wondering if anyone has any theory about why this might be happening. I appreciate your input.

First:
what KSS version?
which mainboard?
Is the hmi really freezing or could it be a time out (maybe up to 12 min)?
How big are the files?
Is a virus scanner installed?
and much more questions

Additional question: are you copy&pasting multiple files in one go, or one file at a time?
Also, are you overwriting files that already exist in the robot?
-
Where do you copy the files to (hard disk or memory)?
More infos would be welcome

yes... more info would be needed.
pasting multiple files to KRC:\ R1\... is not a problem but there are some limitations.
for example all files need to be at the same level (directory structure is not transferred)
also if the files contain global declarations, it will take longer because all files (not just new ones) would need to be recompiled. next transfer is ideally done considering dependencies. ideally one would transfer independent files first, then others that depend on them etc. also if new files contain duplicate declarations, it will create errors and it may take long.
there may be just one file causing problem. did you try to transfer smaller file selection?
and what is the size of files?
