hello, i'm using a smart pad that doesn't start, it's a smart pad that the company bought , along with the robot and controller, the original controller is a krc4, and the robot a kr6 r900 sixx

but alung with this, the smart pad doesn't boot, and i cannot update the firmware, im trying to update with another krc4 controller v8.3.39 and the smart pad its just freezed, doesnt ask for none updates, its just freezed.

where i can find the software for updates? or how can i fix it?

Insert the keyboard into the SmartPad and press WIN to access the SmartPad Wince system, which can be overwritten with internal backup

Recapitulating, the smart pad has arrived with this problem, and i think ti was updating when the old operator or old owner unplugged from the control unit

if the issue is with corrupt firmware due incomplete upgrade, chances are you will need to have to send the smartPad to KUKA to reload it.

normally smartPad does update automatically when connected to a controller with different KSS.

i see that as a design weakness since it:

    a) does not offer prompt to user to confirm if user is ok with the change. NO change to working system should happen without user consent.

    b) does not tell user before change is already in progress that unplugging or powering down is a bad idea.

    c) message to not unplug or power down is/was in only one language and - not considering configured locale (by default it is in German).

    d) does not display versions new and old before (and after) change.

displaying prompts would not prevent people from choosing to proceed with change but - at least it would give them the chance to understand what is going on before change is underway and the only message is not in familiar language.

    1) read pinned topic: READ FIRST...

    2) if you have an issue with robot, post question in the correct forum section... do NOT contact me directly

    3) read 1 and 2

i think it really is a corrupted firmware, but kuka send us a way for recovery/update for smart pad 2, where a software is downloaded directly from kuka's website

i didn't found a software like that for smart pad 1, maybe the way of recovery is the same for smart pat 1 just with another firmware/software?
