Hi all, I am a part of a team creating a robot cell from scratch. We need to determine the optimal location of the infeed and pallet. I have Roboguide to create a simulation. I have played around with moving the infeed and pallet to get better times, but I wondered if there was a more efficient way of determining this. I am using a M-14c/185 Fanuc to pick up boxes.
How determine optimal pick and place positions

There is no better way.

Check out the AUTOPLACE function in Roboguide.

DS186, can you tell me where autoplace is? I am using Pallet pro BTW

Just think about how to make the robot do less work. Locate them so it doesn't have to do extended reaching and use smooth movements.

Hawk, so the robot should aways be at an arc? all i am doing is placing slip sheet, picking up box, and placing box on pallet.

I think I made it more confusing when I said arc.
A better way to explain it is don't use rigid jerky movements. Use J moves whenever possible and CNT instead of FINE when possible. Obviously you will need L moves when doing some of the pick/place and FINE on the actual pick/place points. But you can use J when the gripper is empty and CNT for any intermediate moves.

Hello,
Roboguide has a tool which can simulate that which position is the most optimal.
Adam Willea has already made a video on that on YouTube.
Hope this helps you.

In Roboguide click on Tools > Optimizie Position Utility Menu. For some good information you can watch the video posted by Pavitra Shah from minute 06:30.

It says I have to select a TP program. This is a simulation on pallet pro i am not using a TP program.
