We had the same problem with the TP of a brand new R-30iB Mate Plus controller. We got some advice from Fanuc tech support. In the end, Fanuc have sent us a new TP to fix it.
Can you boot into the boot monitor?
To do this, hold F1 and F5 while cycling power and continue to hold it. You should be able to see it within 30 seconds of power up.

Hey We tried this and it shows a white screen with some Japanese text.

Hey! Did you also witness all the LEDs lit up on your main board?
Unfortunately I cannot say for certain. Do you have the chance to test with another TP?
In our case we changed the cable with no success and after that, we tried with another TP. The other TP worked without problems.

I am currently going through the same issue as you had back in 2021. All LED's lit up, pendant tries to load the os and ends up in a black screen, cannot access boot monitor and if F1 is pressed I get the same japanese letters screen.
Did you ever found out what the issue was? On my side, Fanuc support is pointing towards a hardware issue (Mainboard or CPU card/DRAM)

I am having this very same issue today on our PythonX Plate. Been waiting for a call back from Lincoln Electric support staff for almost 3 hours, my problem is identical to this in everyway except I have not physically opened the controller to check the LED lights. However I am able to startup into Boot Monitor mode by power cycling and holding the F1 and F5 buttons simultaneously but I do not know what steps to take after accessing that menu to attempt to restore the TP properly without causing more problems for myself in trying this method. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! -MikeG

If the answer is no, do you have the original system software AND a recent "all of above" backup?
No I don't, but there is a emergency backup option in the restore menu would that create the backup i need to do it? I'm actually new to this position and the guy who was here before me was fired before i started working with this machine so I've literally been trying to learn as I go with this thing but the issue this morning had me DOA, when I showed up this morning. I ran it all last night with no issues or problems, did my typical shutdown and left then arrived this morning started it up only to have no communication from my pc to the machine at all. That's when I realized the screen was solid black.
Check the lights on the main board. These lights can help diagnose what part needs to be replaced. I have replaced main boards and CPU cards to fix these issues in the past. But it will not hurt to test another teach pendant if you have one available. Hopefully you have a recent backup of the cell.
I just ran into this same issue. I'm also getting the screen with the Japanese letters. Swapped pendant but it didn't fix it.
I can't open the controller with the power on per company rules. Going to need an electrician to do that. I'll update here once I figure out what the issue is.
It's maybe your pandant system breakdown，especial when you see something japaness letters screen and like win98/winpe screen,try restart or press F1 and F5 try into boot menu,select INIT start.IF not ,try replace pandant and/or pandant cable.
