    Hello,

The screen on our KCP KR C1 69-000-398 has gone black. We have tried to have it repaired to no avail. I have found a similar model online. It is a KCP KR C1 00-105-201. Are they compatible? Can I plug it in and get back to work?

    Thanks,

    B

KRC1 KCPs are dumb devices with no local state, identity or configuration. If the plug fits, it will work. Just make sure you don't get a Volkswagen or Daimler version, they're slightly customized and often don't have T1 and AUT modes on the mode switch. If you see a 4-position mode switch on the photo and you're certain that it's an actual photo of the unit you're getting, you'll be fine.

That said, make sure the problem is actually in the pendant and not in the KVGA card. They're known to fail, too. For that matter, make sure the KCP is getting power. Did you lose backlight, image, or both?

Thank you for your reply Enleth. I lost both, but the dead man switch activated the relays when it was in Teach Mode.

I swapped pendants with another robot, and Pendant #1(the bad pendant) did not boot up when it was installed in Controller #2.

However, Pendant #2 did boot up when installed in Controller #1. I believe the KVGA is good.

The 00-105-201 does not have the selector switch. Does that make it incompatible? Is there a hardware or software modification?

Oh wow, that's a weird one, I wasn't aware that this version even exists. I have no idea why would KUKA make it and for whom, I'll leave that to other forum members to explain. Care to elaborate, anyone?

Looking at mainboard photos of 00-105-201, this is indeed a very different design with a dedicated PCB layout and no mode switch cable header.

My first reply is still, for the most part, correct - if you get a version that has a 4-position mode switch, it will work - but it's definitely worth explicitly pointing out the 00-105-201 variety with *no* mode switch at all, the next time anyone asks the same question.

they are different article numbers so.... if the only difference is cable length, then yes (tat would explain different article number).

    1) read pinned topic: READ FIRST...

    2) if you have an issue with robot, post question in the correct forum section... do NOT contact me directly

    3) read 1 and 2

Some customers (GM, VW, etc) insist on placing the mode-select switch on the robot cabinet (or sometimes on the fence) instead of on the pendant.

The 00-105-201 has a space to plug in the mode switch. After installing the mode switch from the 69-000-398, the dead man switches function the relays as they should.

Thank you all for weighing in.
