    Hello everyone.

I have an irc 5 robot controller.

You can see from the pictures.

I want to add one I / O Module to this robot with the profinet connection.

    I want to ask:

1- Is there a Profinet input on my controller?

If there is no profiget entry, which one should I buy?

    2- How are I / O Module configurations done?

    Please look at the Attachments.

    Thank you

To know if you have Profinet or not, in the Flexpendant, open the menu, go to "system information", "system properties", "control module" and "options". There you should see if PROFINET is installed.

To configure the fieldbusses, you must modify the EIO.cfg file that you can find in the SYSPAR folder.

You can do it with any text editor or in an easier way from RobotStudio, download it from the ABB website, connect a network cable to the service port of the robot, set your IP address to something like 192.168.125.xxx (check it in the Internet, said this from memory) and then , in the controller tab, go to "configuration" and select "I/O System".

From there, follow the instructions you will find in the "System parameters" help file (to find it in RobotStudio, top right there is a blue question mark, click it and then under "documentation" open the "IRC5 documentation" and open it. Maybe you will also have one "Profinet controller/device with IO configuration" help file too. worth taking a look to it.

As summary this should help you.

    Hi Dodo41,

You should contact ABB, send them your robot serial number and tell them you need ProfiNet (specify device or controller) and then they will prepare you a new Keystring.

Once you have the new Keystring check the manual "Software Installation" to proceed with the installation.

    Hope this helps.

As skooter described you will need additional hardware. That will be expensive. Why don't you use PROFIBUS module? That's already installed.
