Does the robot have the ability to change tools in the program so I can use the same POS Variables with multiple tools?

yes,
the SETTOOL function does it for you
I don't remember if it's paid option
-
Ok ill need to look. I know it used to be included but since FSU im not sure
-
Sorry but I think that all the PMT functions are incompatible with FSU.

Never thought I'd say this but this is one spot Fanuc beats out Motoman

I don't know the fanuc world, but there in this "robot world" we face always strange situation like this one.
Sometime robot xyz is better than zyx, sometime you are in the reverse situation.
In the end the problem is that we can't switch the brand

GETTOOL and SETTOOL are part of the PMT software option.
If the FSU is active at some point in time after using the SETTOOL instruction the controller would have to be reflashed.
Why not use the CNVRT instruction? It has the Tool tag, to convert from one tool to another tool.
-
I'll need to try that. I found TCP_ON instruction but it is a paid option it looks like that allows you to change tools in the program.
-
TCPON and TCPOF is a paid option. It allows you to program a path in one tool then execute the same path with another tool. Can get unexpected arm orientation depending on the rotational differences between the tools.
-
Yeah the convert won't work I need it in pulse

I was just wanting to change the tool interference zone between two parts using the same tool. The only way I found to do that was to set up two identical tools with different zones and just switch between the two. I'll just make it work without.
