Have you tried turning the controller off and on again?

Does it keep counting up? Sometimes it's a bad connection between pendant cable and controller. What vintage controller? Here is a procedure for deleting a corrupt image.bin file - IF controller is S4C(+?).

Yeah, keep counting without stopping. Is there a solution?

This screen is generated by the teach pendant while it's waiting to establish communication with the controller. If there is an error while it boots up, it takes an extra long time to boot up. The quick and easy thing to do is to try another teach pendant, making sure the controller is off when swapping. Power up with the controller top open so you watch the LEDs on the computer and panel unit. Please post the model of the controller (example: M98, M98A, M2000, ...) you have to get more specific help.

The type of controller's ABB IRB 6400 M97

    A few more tidbits:

    Quote from Skooter

Do the red LEDs on the processors & memory board go out? If so, try another teach pendant. When there are errors, the controller takes up to 2 minutes longer to boot. If the red LEDs stay on, then the operating system is not loading. You should try connecting to the serial port as suggested by Iowan as it should report where the boot sequence stops if it's getting that far. Can you verify the power supply voltages? Prints are in the manual With the power on, disconnect the controller batteries one at a time and measure, if they are less than 3.2V then the operating system may be corrupt. Let us know how it's going. There' other things to try depending on status indicators.

    Imaging didn't start until the 4.0 software / S4C+.

    A few more tidbits:

The red LEDs stay on. (robot computer, memory expansion, main computer)
Then the out voltage from the battery socket 1 and 2 is 0.5VDC

    Hello,

I had the same problem a few weeks ago. An engineer from ABB told me over the phone that it's the fault of a Flash or computer. After replacing the CF memory card everything has returned to normal.

The photo shows a M97/M98, and that robot hasn't any kind of CF,HD or any support. All info, program and are into ram disk
So, open the door, and check de lights the boards

Also, check batteries themselves. Sounds like you will be needing new ones.

While you will have to load software, there still isn't communication registering on the pendant screen.
Do the red lights on the computer board blink at any time? With the software lost, the controller should do a self-test with the results displayed on the pendant.
I don't see in the thread that you have tried another known good pendant or tried this pendant on another working controller to verify it is good.
If that doesn't help, the pendant communication comes from the DSQC373 Robot Computer Bd, up the backplane, DB15-to-DB15 cable to the Panel Unit, out the Panel Unit X7 to XS20 on the front of the controller and out XS20 to the teach pendant. Make sure connectors on the backplane and panel unit are all properly seated.
Since it looks like the software will have to be reloaded, try reseating the 3 computer boards. While you have them pulled out, look carefully and make sure none of the pins in the connectors are bent.
If that doesn't work, disconnect the CAN connections X9 on Panel Unit, and X10 & X16 on the backplane in case one of them is loading the CAN bus.
After that, I would try another Power Supply, Panel Unit and then DSQC373 Robot CPU, Main CPU, Extended Memory board and finally the backplane.
One last question; is that a 6400R in the picture?

now I have belled out both cables from the back of the pendent to the x7 connector and the connections are fine.

have also done the above. on the batterie terminals bat 1 is 4.5v but bat 2 is 7.5v

the 3 computer boards stay red solid and don't flash

have done the undo the scan bus thing as well no change. any more ideas were to go from here
