I have several older RJ Robots that I have to program at the teach pendant. I would like to know what software to use to program them or at least convert the tp files to a text file I can look at on my laptop. I read to use Fanuc tpeditor but can't find a link to download the software.
How to convert a RJ Robot tp file to a text file

Hardgp87, try to find FANUC R-J Translator.
Is a small utility that converts .TP programs to .PE text files (that you can open with any text editor).
HINT: R-J Translator doesn't work well with SpotTool+ programs.

Thanks for the help. I will try to find that software.

The oldest robot I worked with is RJ3, don't know that you got this or not, but check you have sysvar "$ASCII_SAVE" if it's turned on, than the normal save creates an *.ls file...at least RJ3 have that variable.

Where do you go to find if "ASCII_SAVE" is turned on?

Menu --> Next --> System --> Variables
Anything with a $ is a system variable.
Now that I say that, I think system is on the first page in an RJ2???

Ok, so I checked, and I couldn't find that option in the variables, however, after looking around more, I did find the option button on the second page of the "Backup" option; on the first page you see the "All of the Above" and there on the second backup page, you can save as the ASCII option, and finally, I was able to view my .tp files in notepad.
