    Hello all,

I'm in the process of changing the backup batteries on my fanuc robot. Before I do that, I want to take a backup that could restore all the information if lost. I know I can take a backup of all the TPP programs and what not but what kind of backup can I take that would store all the positions so that if something happens during the battery swap process, I wouldn't have to re-master the robot?

    Thanks in advance!

Do an ALL OF ABOVE backup (it is a choice in file menu)
It's cover system files, program, etc...

Then, i suggest to do an IMAGE backup (faster to restore, but do not have access to individual files)

Begin with ALL OF ABOVE since it will erase all in the directory on your card before backing up.

DO NOT SHUTDOWN CONTROLLER WHILE CHANGING BATTERY.

If it starts well the first time, you have not checked all !

I'm not sure what kind of backup you are doing.

If you want to be sure that you have all do ALL OF ABOVE backup.

If you want to can do image backup of the robot (I think that's the best option). I don't know what kind of controller do you have, depending on the software and controller you can do it either:

Go to regular backup, choose Image backup

Go to controlled start (hold Prev and Next while controller is restarting), select controlled start, perform image backup.

If I'm getting this correct you want to change the batteries located in robot base ? If so, you don't need to worry about the mastering if the robot is connected to power. As far as I know if you have power connected you won't lose mastering.

Even if this happens make sure you don't move the robot and you can just change variable for mastering for TRUE, than do calibration (sometimes not needed) and you should be good to go. (maybe you need to reset PCA alarm as well).

Don't worry we will help :beerchug:

    Thank you

I'll do both image backup and the all of the above. I know that as long as I keep the power on, I won't lose anything but just in case there is a power outage or something while I'm changing the batteries.

Always a great idea to do backups before working on the robot.
I always have everything prepared so that it takes less than a minute to change the batteries.
If others are nearby, I'll inform them I'm changing batteries and not to turn off power till I'm done.
Use a flashlight to make sure the inside of the box & the connecting tabs are clean, always double check battery orientation before putting the cover on, and don't over-torque the cheap captive screws that hold the cover on.

When a lost master counter value. You can restore from Image backup files.

    Menu - 7. File - Backup - 8.All of Above

this backup is not a contain master counter value.

Image backup & Restore is very easy and useful.

because you don't have to axis mastering again when a lost Calibrated pulse code data.
TP? VR? all program and system parameter included.
