HI,
group input means you can group many Digital inputs/outputs and map to group input /output.
This may be used to send some decimal number by kepping DI on and off ( like in binary) to pheripheral devices for example if you group four DIs0000= all DI off>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> stands for 0
0001= DI 1 on and rest are off>>>>>>>>>>>>>> stands for 1
0010=DI2 on and res are off>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> stands for 2
0011=DI 1 and D2 on and rest are off>>>>>>>>> stands for 3
0100=DI3 on and rest are off>>>>>>>>>>>>>> stands for 4
1000=Di4 on and rest are off.>>>>>>>>>>>>>> stands for 5Rupy

Thank you

0101 would = 5...
Of course unless we have some new common core binary going on. -
Hi,
sorry a typing error.Rupy

I use group inputs (and group outputs, as well) for option selection/verification - similar to PNS setup.

Can any body tell how to assign this

ummm... similar to DIs/DOs? You have to input the RACK, SLOT, START PT (start point) and NUM PTS (number of bits that will be used by the group signal to code the binary value). If you want to use digital signals that are already configured and work:
- you get the RACK and SLOT from the DI/DO config
- input the index number of the first digital signal to be used as group signal as the START PT
- input the desired value in NUM PTS. for example, 8 means that you will be able to exchange an 8-bit value using this particular group signal. -
Procedure is in eDoc (I found it in the Handling Tool eDoc).
In brief:
Menu>I/O>F1(Type)
Select input or output (IN/OUT)
Move to the group you want to configure.
F2(Config)
Enter values for RACK,SLOT,START PT, NUM PTS
Verify I/O assignments
Save configuration (DIOCFGSV.IO):
MENUS> FILE>F1(TYPE)
File>F5(UTIL)>Set Device
Select the device you want and press ENTER.
MENUS> I/O>FCTN>SAVE.
