Need help KRC2 ed 2005 safety bypass

  • panic mode okay thanks. I have a KRC4 controller. We just bought an x11 and have installed the hardware. We are now working on wiring the x11 plug. We plan on hooking up a door contact and an e-stop button. Do you have any good pics or links to show what to use and how to wire them in? Can you tell us which numbers need to connect on the x11 plug?

  • there are different variants of KRC4 as well. X11 is not the same on KRC4 standard and KRC4 compact. circuits are practically the same but X11 pinout is different.

with KRC4 all circuits are redundant. and all of the X11 input circuits need to be fully wired - even the ones you do not intend to use (for example external enabling switch). for details refer to your controller documentation. check pinned topic READ FIRST and download section.

  • This document is a decent starting point, but it also demonstrates how different versions of the KRC4 require different X11 wiring. And this doc only touches on "vanilla" KRC4s -- some customers (VW, GM, etc) have custom modifications made to their KRC4s at the factory to use a different X11 wiring schema, or replace the X11 with a different connector entirely.

So, as Panic has said: you must examine the internal wiring diagrams of your KRC4 to ensure you find all the signal pairs that need to be closed.

  • no... your KRC4 cabinet obviously does not have an E-Stop button. the hole for optional cabinet E-Stop is plugged (the round silver filler for 22mm buttons). so the only KUKA supplied EStop in your case is on the smartPad.

this means you should wire external estop like here:

  • Hi V.

Your socket it has 108 pins, is from a safe robot X11 or similar. I sent you by e-mail a document to help you. Diagram for wiring and X11 socket is different for safe robot than standard robot. I will not share here any document since somebody recently banned me for sharing a public document from Kuka. I couldn't understand that but I was understood by site adiministrator and unbanned . Safe robot has RDC box bigger on the robot backside, ESC card is also bigger than standard and is possible to have some modules Profisafe in controller below drivers, black boxes with red light leds.
    Good luck !
