I don't know of any downsides. It's just a comment that has special meaning to the WorkVisual code editor (and also the editor on the teach pendent).

FOLDs are purely cosmetic -- they have no effect on how the program codes executes. The only effect is on how the user interface on the teach pendant displays the code. To the compiler, a FOLD is just another comment.

Just be carefull on doing line select on closed fold in case you have many points in one fold. If main run pointer in the half way through points and you do line select on closed fold in it will start at first point in your fold

One drawback of using FOLDs, is that the line number will be "wrong". If the operator calls and reports a problem in line 317, then you have to know how many folds he has open, in order to know which line he is talking about
