If KRC1 does not power up when main 3phase power supply is applied, what are the possibilities?
This is the KRC1 which was damaged for 1 year now, but I had replaced the damaged PM6-600, but still not powering up.
Motherboards maybe?
KRC1 not powering up

Define "does not power up". What happens? What doesn't happen? What lights up, what doesn't? Does the main fan turn? Does the PC rack receive 24VDC?

When shutting down the KRC1 controller, if KCP screen instantly shuts down does it mean the battery need to be replaced?
I need to move the KRC1 cabinet next to KRC2 cabinet therefore need to unplug all the harting plugs. -
Often this means that the batteries are not charged. Does the robot lose Mastering when you shut down?
The batteries may need replacement, or perhaps only need a good 24hr charge.
-
Lost Mastering A1, A2 weren solved. Batteries have been replaced.
Not sure If I should give it try again on Ethernet connections? If I use a X-over ethernet cable plug to MFC ethernet port and PC ethernet port, this should establish a connection between them. Not sure what went wrong with the connection from last year? X-over ethernet cable to the hub switch causing short circuit? -
Eh? Ethernet cables can't cause a short circuit.
Connecting the MFC ethernet port to a laptop PC ethernet port via a Xover cable should work perfectly, I've done it many many times.

KRC1 does not power up because...
I was too scared to switch it on...This was funny!
When shutting down the KRC1 controller, if KCP screen instantly shuts down does it mean the battery need to be replaced?
I need to move the KRC1 cabinet next to KRC2 cabinet therefore need to unplug all the harting plugs. If KCP shuts down instantly something is not right in battery circuit, either batteries are bad or not charged or not connected or fuse is blown.
If you replace batteries and verify that this is no longer an issue (turning off disconnect KCP stays on for 30-60 seconds and gracefully powers down) but you still loose mastering on next powerup, RDC need to be replaced because it failed to save mastering data (number of writes exceeded for flash). Today any flash device will easily handle 100000 writes or more but 15-20 years ago write limit was substantially lower (orders of magnitude lower). -
To skyfire,
I'll try the X-over from MFC to PC.To Panic Mode,
"RDC need to be replaced because it failed to save mastering data (number of writes exceeded for flash). Today any flash device will easily handle 100000 writes or more but 15-20 years ago write limit was substantially lower (orders of magnitude lower)."
Sound like there's an expire date applied to RDC card. -
Most Rdw 1's will be getting towards the end of their write life and not saving the position data on power down I did one on an early krc2 2 months ago
-
Sound like there's an expire date applied to RDC card.that is one way to think of it, but really, everything has an expire date.
15-20 year to start seeing component fail is not bad. i wish my car could do that (and it does not run 3 shifts).
just stop crashing, rebooting and mastering that poor old robot 5 times per day... it's asking for trouble.
also if one is to spend money on a replacement RDC, then it should only be RDC2, not RDC1 (its throwing money out of window).
there are no new RDC1 for sale by Kuka and i would be skeptical that someone kept new one on shelf for so long only to sell it now.
if one intends to spend money to keep using the good old robot, then it's the RDC2 time if you ask me. -
To The Leg:
Is it RDW or RDC? what's the difference? To Panic Mode:
I'm going to switch KRC1 now, will see if Mastering is needed.
Can this RDC board be manufactured again if there's a free schematic of the board or reverse engineer it? -
When choosing User group to Expert it takes sometime to load completely.
I want to optimize the PC hardware to its max. I can use SSD Hard drive for C1?
About mastering, same as usual A1 and A2:I also have 2 spare C1 controllers, 1 has 2 cabinet doors and the other one is just an cabinet without the PM6-600. I would like to use the C1 + servogun, and there are some branches of cable left on top of the cabinet which belongs to the controller, but not sure where should these cable be plugged to?
About t top cabinet, the module inside is it a 2 axes drive or 1? -
Is it RDW or RDC? what's the difference?it is the same thing (W= Wandler, German word for Converter)
newer RDC2 (RDW2) is compatible and it is currently stocked part.
Can this RDC board be manufactured again if there's a free schematic of the board or reverse engineer it?Sure, but you need to realize what it takes:
- obtaining schematic (not free but one could reverse engineer existing one or make new design)
- producing PCB layout and generate gerber files (straight forward though time consuming)
- getting one of many PCB shops to make PCB (or also assemble it if one is to order bunch of them), easiest part so far.
- programming it (this is the big part, no code so reverse engineering would take a while, need to replicate protocol and full functionality)
plus each phase would need debugging, tweaking etc. what do you think, how long did it take for Kuka to develop one (note: they had open book).
is this doable? sure, but it is just not worth it... if you need replacement - just buy RDC2 -
Thanks for the explanations.
This is slight off topic, I saw a KRC2:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JaHxJoikM0&feature=youtu.be
but the teach pendant is a KCP1, is this an upgrade? -
Eh? Ethernet cables can't cause a short circuit.Connecting the MFC ethernet port to a laptop PC ethernet port via a Xover cable should work perfectly, I've done it many many times.
I have plugged the Cross-over ethernet cable to KRC1's MFC's ethernet port and my laptop win7.
Next step is to goto: Control Panel--->Network and Internet--->Network and Sharing Center--->Local Area Connection Status--->Property--->Inetrnet Protocal Version 4(TCP/IPV4)--->click "Use the following IP address"---> enter 192.168.1.20, press "tab" key automatically shows the Subnet Mask which is 255.255.255.0.For KRC1 do I have to exit KSS to set hthis?
thanks

Found some answers:
In KCP1, press Alt + Tab (keypad number 6, remember to turn off NUM.)or press CRtl + ESC to call out start menu ---> control Panel--->Network--->TCP/IP--->properties
Is this the virtual Connection that should not be messed about with?
I have set an IP for my win 7 laptop, 192.168.1.20, I want to set 192.168.1.21 to C1's TCP/IP, please need guidance.

Log in as Expert. Use Ctrl-ESC to access Windows XP Start Menu.
In Windows Control Panel, Network Settings, there will be two (normally) network interfaces.
One of these interfaces will have a name like VxWIN RTACC Shared Memory Driver. It will have an IP of 192.0.1.1. DO NOT CHANGE THIS ONE!!!!
The other network interface will probably be set to DHCP by default. Switch it to "Fixed IP" and set the IP you desire. Turn off the Windows Firewall, if it is active. That should be all you need to do. -
