Fanuc 120iC Arc Mate

    Hey everyone,
    I am working on a new Fanuc 120iC Arc Mate and am trying to get it to weld. I have it moving in the pattern that I want, but when I run the program, it just sparks once and then clogs the tip so I have to replace it. This is my program:

    1:J P[1]] 10% FINE
    : ARC Start[WP1,175.0IPM, 34.00Volts,2.00]
    2:L P[2] WELD_SPEED FINE
    : ARC End[1]
    [End]

    Not sure what I am doing wrong but any help would be nice. I am very new at Fanuc Welding Robots.

    It is much easier to just use the arc start and end shcedules like you did for the arc end.

    1:J P[1] 10% FINE

    Also check: open wirefeeder drive rolls and make sure you can pull wire freely through the weld tip. Also make sure your positive weld cable goes to the feeder and the neagative to your workpiece.

    Which welding powersource are you using and what materials are you joining?

    Why is you voltage so high? 34V seems extremely high for such a slow wire feed speed of 175ipm, I can see that just burning back to the tip for sure. I would try bringing the volts down try 22V to start then you can work on wire feed speed and travel speed after to get the desired penetration and deposition you require.

    first of all you've to check the weld programme,then set desired weld parameters...as comapred with Base metal & Component you want to weld & also, i would like to suggest you that in this I400 there is one more advanced weld syestem called "Rapid Arc" which is consits under Trim.
    whenever you get any alarm you can check it in Teach Pendant only by pressing Help key....(in i Pendant there is having alarm's with remedy)

    You may be using a weld file that is not for steel/.045/argon
    Goto Menus-->Setup-->Weld Equipment. Set your search criteria ie. Steel, .045 and argon gas, likely pulse. The compatible weld files on the i400 will show up. Just select one that matches your wire size. Next go to Menus-->Setup-->Weld Process and make sure the weld file # appears as process 1.

    I tried a few more setups of voltages. I meant to type 24volts in the example above. I also went through the menu-->setup stuff and I had calibrated it correctly the first time. Still getting the same results. A short spark and then an error '018-Lost Arc Detect'. This is what happens in order:

    Wire feeds out,
    Presses into the part,
    Sparks,
    Ruins the tip,
    Errors out

    the above mentioned problem is only due to improper setting of weld paramter.....take trial's with diff. kind of parameters.

    Lincoln recommended parameters for .045 wire for spray transfer with 90/10 gas are 375IPM wire and 27 volts. you say you are using argon gas, not 100 % it will not weld right on a robot. If you go to Lincoln Electric weld web site they have a MIGMAG Welding guide that has suggested settings for mig welding. short circuiting settings are 150IPM wire with 19 volts with 75% argon 25% CO2. also check if these settings are right sounds like you are having a wire feed problem, Bad liner or drive rolls could be worn out.

    I missed the part where you said you were using Argon for your shielding gas. Since you are welding steel, you should be using a mix gas. Also, as others have said, your voltage is too high for .045 wire, and the wire feed speed is too low as well. Make sure your drive rolls are the correct size for the wire, and that you are also using a correct contact tip size as well.

    2.Earthing Connection

    Pl. go thru below parametes..these are working fine on 90%-Ar/10%Co2 with Rj3ic Fanuc & Linclon I400 M/c.

    Trim --- 0.95
    WFS (IPM) --- 570
    Travel Speed (IPM)--- 30
