    I can back this up. Adept is Garbage. And what Skyefire said about Fanuc is true. Impossible to get any kind of support from them, not to mention just email you back. Also what he said about KUKAs is true. Im using them now, but its a steep learning curve to get up to speed with them.

    If you want a simple, quick set up, easy to use robot, I'd looks for Yaskawa(Motoman) or ABB. ABB is probably easier to figure out on your own if you have little experience.

  • KRC2 and Fronius TPS 400i

    Got a hold of Fronius this morning. Turns out that on the Anybus module that you install to the welder, there are DIP switch settings which you can use to turn the interface into "Retro" mode and have it act like an old school TPS 5000. Switching that, and then updating my hardware on my PLC, and everything is good.

  • KRC2 and Fronius TPS 400i

    Good Afternoon Everyone,

    I'm currently attempting to integrate a KRC2 with Arc Tech Analog V1.3.3 with a Fronius TPS 400i.

    The issue that I'm having if that the signals required for the Arc Tech dont seem to match up very well with the Fronius I/O. There seem to be so data the Robot is requesting that I don'd have access to on the welder, for example the robot is requesting a 8 bit signal for Burn Back, but the welder doesn't have any IO based on burnback. In the past we used TPS 5000 Robacta and communicated over Devicenet and the IO was set up perfectly with the welder.

    Has anyone ever seen this configuration used before and could provide me a little guidance? I'm worried I'll have to upgrade Arc Tech or downgrade my welder.

    thanks for this. I ran it about twice as long as it asked for and it stopped spewing. Sounds like everything else is good, and the other axes seem to be better.

  • Fanuc Grease Change Question

    Hello all,

    We've just completed a grease change on a group of 4 ArcMate 100ic's. We are currently preforming the procedure to release remaining pressure from the grease bath and have noticed that the outlet on Axis 1 have been pretty consistently spewing grease out for the entire 10 minutes we ran axis 1 60 degrees at 100% OVR.

    Just wondering if this is normal?

    It seems like a waste of grease, but as this is a used cell, I'm wondering if maybe the last group overfilled the grease, and even though we only added grease until clean grease was coming out of the outlet, the axis could be over filled and thats why we're seeing so much excess grease during this procedure.

    If anyone has any more insight to this that'd be great. I'm not sure if we should keep running the releasing program until grease stops spewing, or if this is perfectly okay.

    disregard, we misunderstood what was going on with our system. turned out we didnt have an issue afterall

    Did you ever figure out why those value reset to 0?

    We're having the same issue now, trying to master a 4 robot cell now and we go through and do the single axis mastering for all the joints, only to reset the robots and all the values we entered are gone/back to zero.

  • Robot Accuracy Enhancement techniques

    Good Morning all,

    We are currently trying to follow a Robot Accuracy enhancement technique. We have a few questions with some terminology we are not familiar with and were hoping someone could help us.

    It asks us to change the configuration of a point from F to N or N to F. We are not sure what they mean by F and N.

    It also tells us to teach a point where the TCP touches a pointer with J4 and J6 between -180 and 180 degrees (turn numbers all zero) . Not sure what they mean by "turn numbers all zero" when they says to be between 180 and -180 before.

    Hello All,

    I'm very new to Fanuc so this might be a pretty basic one.

    With User Alarms, is it possible to have them running in the background all the time, kind of like an interrupt?

    For example, the application I would like to do is the following:

    Have a DI hooked up to an air pressure sensor, and if that DI drops low due to air being shut off to the cell, everything stops.

    I have already created the User alarm as a macro job and adjusted the alarm severity, I just don't know how to have this triggered at all times.

  • AENT 138 Slave Communication with R-30iA Fanuc Master

    We found the EDS files via the web browser interface. Making sense of them is another question.

    That is an example of what the EDS file says and we aren't sure how make it work for us.

  • AENT 138 Slave Communication with R-30iA Fanuc Master

    Hello All,

    We purchased a used robot cell with Fanuc R-30iA robots. The cell came with Allen Bradley 1738-AENT IO blocks installed but they will no communicate with the Robots over Ethernet IP.

    It had been a few years since the modules were powered on so we had to re initialize a lot of settings to get the IO blocks status lights all to Green(chassis size, IP address etc) but now we are still unable to get the devices to "Running" state through the Ethernet IP section on the FANUC robot.

    We can successfully ping our device and have tried a variety of different settings to no avail.

    The rack consists of 10 "1738-IB8M12" Input modules, and 1 "1738-OB8EM23" output module.

    We were convinced it was an issues with the IO modules because we couldn't get the "PointBus Status" light to stop blinking red, but then we adjusted out chassis size and that went away and we are now convinced it is an issue on the robot side, but have run out of ideas as how to remedy this.

    Any info that could be shared on how to properly set your ethernet IP settings(Input assembly size, configuration instance etc) would be greatly appreciated, as right now we are basically going through other peoples examples and trying to copy them with no success.

  • Remove T2 Capabilities

    Hello,

    We have recently purchased a set of Fanuc robots from an Auction in the United States to use in our Canadian Facility.

    These robots are equipped with Teach 2 capabilities, which are illegal here in Canada, so I am looking to disable them.

    My first idea was to remove the wiring to the key switch so that even if they turned the key to T2, it wouldn't activate it, but I am now concerned about leaving the robot in a state of not knowing what operating mode it is in.

    As I am typing this, I'm thinking instead of removing the wiring, to re-route it to turn on T1, so if the key is in the T1 or T2 position, T1 is active.

    Any comments, suggestions, concerns or better ideas for me?
