    Hello all,

I encountered an issue with KUKA KRC2 while booting it up.

After showing the screen 'loading 10%', it goes to the Windows interface, showing a KukaDB window as shown in the attachment, and moves to the cross 3 window.

It was working fine till last Friday and we disconnected the power plugs for relocating the control panel.

What will be the possible issue?

    Please check the images attached.

    cheers!

Message database is corrupt. The file it's complaining about. Try to restore it from a Backup. But my guess would be that your HD is failing if nothing was changed since it last worked.

    Thanks for your reply,

1.I had the latest backups with me.But the restore option is only possible through the hmi, right ?

Is there any other way to restore it ?

    2.

The robot was working fine but we moved the panel to another unit last day,is there any chance the HD failure may be because of the lifting ?

if yes,how can we check that ?

You meant hard drive or hard disc as HD ? ( iam new to this field, please ignore my flaws)

    cheers!

Since you talk about restoring from HMI your backup is an Archive? Is the corrupt file included in this backup? If yes you can just extract the zip-File and copy the extracted file to the folder stated in your screenshot manually. At best connect a mouse and a keyboard to the controller to be able to do this. Then reboot the controller and see whether its fixed.

If kuka_tab.mdb is not included in your Archive you can also try to restore a factory setting kuka_tab.mdb for your version from your KSS setup. If you did not modify the file in the past this should be the same one anyway.

I do not know what you use as HD there (classical HD or SSD or ...). But sure classical HD can get destroyed by mechanical stress like vibrations that might be caused by moving the installation.

    Thankyou,

I checked my backup file, unfortunately kuka_tab.mdb is not found , kuka_con.mdb is the only file in the data folder.

Can you please provide some guidance to restore it using this method because there was no modification done for this file in near past.

    cheers!

On D: drive there is usually a copy of you KSS Setup. Look for the file in there and as with an Archive simply copy it to the destination folder as seen in your screenshot.

From D drive ,I found another backup file in which the kuka_tab.mdb is available.

I replaced the old file in C/krc/data with this one, but still its showing the same error.

Please share your thoughts on what I need to do next ?

    thanks again

Do you have a harddisk image as backup as well? Then try go restore this one.

Also check your hard disk with e.g. chkdsk. At best restore to a brand new hard disk.

And obviously: Before doing any changes on your existing HD take a full harddisk image to be able to go back when something unexpected happens.

Alternativly setup Windows Embedded from scratch install your kss version a new and then restore your archive.

Since I am really a newbie to this robot field, please bare with me because I am getting doubts on simple things.

I have stored the back up from,

    file/Archive/all

    1. Is that archive file contain everything including harddisk image ?

    if not,

2.Please advise me on how to take a complete hard disc image.

(Hard disc image means everything in C and D folder ,right ?)

3,In worst case,if need to change the hardisc, how can i do that ?

(mine is a krc 2 v5.5.16 controller) i had attached the images of the CPU.

    Looking forward for your suggestions

    cheers all !

Did you restart the controller after putting the new file on?

A problem with the hard drive could be the ribbon cable as well

yes, I restarted it after replacing the new file.

I also tried by replacing the three files in the DATA folder with the back up files. But no luck

I will once again unplug, clean and reconnect every wired connectors of the hard drive tomorrow and will update you .

    cheers all

Did you made a cold start?

KukaDB.exe is responsable for the error message (only reports to cross3).

Check whether KukaDB.exe is running or not

check especially the ribbon cable to the hard drive (both ends)

login as Expert/Admin, open Windows Explorer, navigate to C:/KRC/UTIL/REGUTIL and doubleclick on *.REG file for cold start then reboot

This was an old thread on how to do the cold start. Is this the same way i should follow ?

Do i need to take the full backup before the cold start ?

    hello guys,

    thanks for your valuable feedbacks.

Also check your hard disk with e.g. chkdsk. At best restore to a brand new hard disk.

My problem solved when I have done the CHKDSK option.

    right click on c drive >properties>tools>error checking>start

After a reboot, its works fine.

Now after reboot some new errors are showing in error screen, they are acknowledgeable. But

I am afraid whether that will cause any problems in future.

I have attached the images which showing those errors.

    Please provide your views.

    cheers!

Thats exactly the info inside the kuka_tab.mdb. So my guess is the file is still corrupt and not loaded. Try to replace it with a valid one as mentioned before.

Kuka Data base is working now - you get messages in your language.

Look for error files now *.err

Maybe some files are corrupted too. compare the files with the one you have in your archive

Even though it works now I still think the hard drive is not working properly. I would seriously consider installing a new one regardless. The best way to do this is to pull a full hard drive image now as long as it works and then transfer that image to the new hard drive. Since it is KRC2 you can either look for a software yourself or use a KUKA USB stick with recovery.

Alternativly setup a new harddrive from scratch (Windows Embedded and then KSS) and deploy a full archive of your current installation.

Thanks for your advise. I am definitely going to do that soon.

But I need your help for moving in the correct direction.

I read a lot threads in the forums and think CLONEZILLA and ACRONIS is the best option for KRC2.

But I am really not a computer guy, so struggling on how to do this ?

Can anyone please guide me about the steps on how to take a complete HDD image, from scratch.

(If possible please suggest the method using usb pen drive)

I couldn't find which one is the KSS install file. Please have a look at the images of the file I got from backup.

    cheers!
