Quick question: I have a lab robot that started life as a GM-spec'd R-30iB, and I want to add an Ethernet/IP I/O module to it. The robot already has EIP installed, so no issue there, but I don't have a spare 24VDC power supply lying around right now, so I'm wondering: can I steal that power from inside the robot? And where would be the best place to tap that power?
This will all be low-current I/O, using opto-isolated signals, so I'm not concerned about blowing any fuses. I'm most interested in finding a safe place to steal that power from, especially if there's a "Fanuc approved" circuit in the robot for doing this.
Bonus points if I can separate the Input and Output power to the module -- Ideally, I'd like to have the Input power remain on at all times, but link the Output power to the robot's motor state.
