Hello!
could you please tell me, is it possible to define 2 motors and define 1 axis that uses these 2 motors.
so I want to to control 2 motors by 1 axis
Motors should rotate equally ( both motors will do the same work)
thank you !

1st - Which version of control and software?
If it is RW 5.15 or later (not sure about earlier) then the base RW functionality Electronically Linked Motors (ELM) might be able to be used. Read about setting it up in the "Application manual Servo motor control", in the ELM chapter.
If it is 6.X, then ELM is a RW base function, also it is described in the "Application manual Controller software IRC5". Read about setting it up in the ELM section in the RobotWare-OS chapter.
Not yet worked with RW 7.X
The Stand Alone Controller Additional Option is very likely to be needed.
Thank you for your reply
I have m98a BaseWare 3.1 software
Can I group 2 ext axis to rotate equally ?
Thank you
What is the application / purpose ? Will they be mechanically linked ?
There's to my knowledge no direct/native support for it on S4
I'm trying to jog my memory but I can't remember exactly how we used to do it on the S4C's but I think it involved using Atlas Copco "DMC" drives.
These drives are no longer in production so you're stuck with buying it on eBay... however... programming them requires an eeprom burner and more knowledge than just "eh, I can figure it out" so it's not something I would recommend. (you're better off biting the bullet and buying a used IRC5 controller with support for your robot).
Thank you for your answer!
Yes, I have found options for BW 3.1 software
So, there are no electronically linked motors option
But there are Advanced Motion function
The option says:
Coordinated motion with external manipulators.
So, can I connect two motors to one axis using Advanced Motion?
Have you ever used it?
Thank you!!
Do you need them to move at the same time? Or one moves, and then the other moves?
Thank you for answers
Yes, i need them to move at the same time.
they will both rotate one big axis-positioned
Thank you
