What version of KUKA USB recovery stick you have?
Did you see the manual for it? It is on the stick itself.Interface changed on newer sticks (version 3.x)
Either way the process is the same. Most common use is in so called silnt mode. This requires configuring stick before use (fhis is done on your laptop), then connecting it to controller and performing cold start.
Process takes some 15min and you get compressed images of partitions C and D.....

Hi panic, i've just asked my guidance about this stuff. I thought we could use normal usb to do it at first.
Thanks for your help. -
You can use normal USB stick to create various forms of backup (program copy, WoV project, Archive, KRCDiag). This does not need to be a Kuka stick, any USB storage drive will do.
USB Recovery stick allows more - this is a bootable stick that allows complete backup and restoration of the robot with all software as is loaded. Newer software for Recovery sticks has more features (and older sticks can be upgraded). Once you get them up to version 3.x further updates are much simpler - they are offered as downloads from Kuka website. Sticks with 3.x software can be used to upgrade older sticks to V3.x as well.
