Go to your UOP inputs and watch the Hold input while you press reset. If it turns off when pressed then you got the mapping incorrect from the PLC to the robot.

I am having similar issue with my R2000iB Robot. While it is running the main program, at certain steps it will stop and give the following error Alarm Detail: "SYST-034 HOLD signal from SOP/UOP is lost" Initially I thought there might be a problem in the program. I restored the backup softwear, but this did not eliminate the problem. If there was any alteration to the program causing the issue that would have been eliminated by restoration, or am I missing anything? I have also been directed to check all the input output signals to PLC, I asked my controls techs to look into that. they came back to me and said they did not notice anything obvious. I am lost now, anyone have had similar issue and what the remedy was?

You need to check what your UI HOLD input is mapped to and start there.
This signal must be ON, if it is off you will get the alarm.
Is your communication to the PLC hard wired signals, Ethernet/IP, or some other type of communication?

I checked the I/O => UOP => and verified the HOLD was ON. My communication to the PLC is hard wired signal.

If you check the connections and verify they are secure then it has to be an issues with the PLC program.
Have them run a trend on that bit. If it goes off for any amount of time at all you will see that alarm. Maybe when they are looking at the program the signal isn't switching states at that moment or it is too fast for them to visually see update on the screen.

I have trainer with a AB PLC interfaced with a Fanuc 200iD robot. When the conveyor brings the part to the pick up position, the robot is activated to pick the part., and the robot faults on SYST-034. I can reset the alarm but it faults immediately again. The interface between the PLC and robot appears to be working as I can see changes in status on the HMI.

Would appreciate some help. I am not new to robots, but new to the Fanuc world. Documentation is not user friendly and not easy to find.

It means you lost communication with your UOP signals. Find the source and fix it.

I had a recent case, the problem was the devicenet network with problems in one of the valve islands, I restarted the equipment, it started working again.
