I will have to do some things on a new robot, and the safety signals (electrical signals) will not be available yet.
In het past we used a connector where the safety signals where looped through in such a way that they were bypassed.
I wondered if we really need such a connector on a KRC 4? Is there a possibility to bypass the safety from the KCP?
And what will be the consequences then in that mode?

It depends on the hardware/software equipment. With Profisafe there is a setup mode, you don't need electrical signals, if you have an 'oldstyle' safety circuit you need the same as at the old robots.
In setup mode with profisafe it is not possible to test programs in T2 or AUT. -
on KRC4 you can just use StartUp mode....
Note, controller still MUST have a valid safety configuration. -
What do you mean exactly by a 'valid safety configuration'?
-
in order to enable drives, there must be bunch of things correct (permissives).
of them is that WoV project has safety configuration (one and only one).
StartUp mode can be used to bypass safety configuration - if and when safety configuration exists.
only then there is something to bypass....if your WoV project does not have valid safety configuration, you can try StartUp mode but it will not allow you to move.
For example:
* your robot does not have X11 interface, you have ProfiNet but ProfiSafe device it is not activated in WoV.
* your robot has more than one safety interface (both ProfiSafe and X11)
etc.
