We have a KRC4 controller cabinet with Profinet controller device 3.2 software interface.
The KRC4 will be Profinet controller of a Siemens ET200SP remote IO station and will be device of
a Siemens S7 1500 PLC.
We don't have the cabinet at our disposal yet.
Do we need to use separate RJ45 ports on the controller for connecting the remote IO-station and the PLC?
I mean, is there a port only for device an another only for controller?
Or has one port the dual function of controller and device?
If so, how many physical ports are there available, or in other words, has the Kuka switching possibilities. Or do we need to mount an external switch?

there is only one port - KLI. depending of exact configuration you ordered, this may be connected to an optionl ethernet switch. Kuka offers variety of switches (non-managed, real time, real time managed).

KRC4s do almost everything over "virtual networks", which share a single physical network port -- the KLI, as Panic said.
The only caveat for using the KRC4 simultaneously as both scanner and device on ProfiNet is that you need to buy the higher-level PN option -- the "lower" PN option package for KRC4s can only act as a device, not a scanner.
