We have a R30iB running a M-20iA/20M robot. For no apparent reason the robot stopped while operating and whole system locked up, the pendant has a white screen. Rebooted but still comes up with a white screen. Anybody experienced this abnormally and found a fix. thanks Leonardo

Try replacing the teach pendant cable.
-
Check CRS20 tp cable at the panelboard and also the JRS15 going from panelboard to main bd.

Did replacing the TP solve this issue?

Try controlled start, then cold start

I currently have this issue of white screen on an R30IB and M-410iB 140H. The Fault light on the controller is red but not on the TP seems like a cable issue or boot issue. The TP sometimes boots to a white screen with words related to not being able to connect to webserver. Replacing the TP cable solved the issue for about 2 hours. Replacing the TEACH PENDANT had no effect.
Any thoughts?

Make sure the connectors on the E-Stop unit and Main Board are well seated.
Just to rule out the TP & cable, swap them as a pair from a working controller.
You might also want to try a Cold Start by holding the Fault Reset button while the powers up.

We did not have a replacement cable or T.P. We purchased both and had them driven same day from Nashville to Memphis. Tried the cable and it worked for a few hours. Did a controlled start and everything has worked fine since. Now I'm upset with myself. Did we just spend $8,000 when a controlled stop repaired the problem or was it the cable?
Either way we needed a backup cable and T.P.. My Plant Manager had just authorized this purchase when signs of a problem started. Thanks for the reply to Cold Start. I think that would of fixed the problem.

The result is you now have spare parts to troubleshoot with and potentially save more down time in the future. You've gained knowledge & experience and have a better understanding of shortcomings that can be reduced thru additional training. Plenty of positive here, I wouldn't be too upset.

Do a controlled start and then a cold start. It will resend the configuration to the teach.
Or... do the magic button trick -- push the three "service" button -- and reboot the we interface of TP.

Could someone explain the difference between controlled, cold, and hot start, and when to use any of these? Also, wouldn't a normal bootup be considered a controlled start perhaps?
Thanks,

Normal = Cold, resets I/O to off, clears program state.
Hot is set in system config, replaces cold start as the normal startup method if enabled. Faster startup, maintains last I/O and program state.
Controlled is selected in the cycle power option or by holding certain buttons during startup. Allows modifying certain system parameters and variables or configuring added hardware.

Thanks all.
