the quickest and simplest way is to get GripperTech.
if you want to go fancy and don't mind some development time, UserTech is the option...
I have UserTech installed, but the documentation on how to program the status/Technology keys is almost nonexistent.
I have seen this question asked a few times on the forum with no real answer. I have been trying to figure out how to program the keys for about two weeks now with no luck
well, let this be a lesson to you
1. you were warned that UserTech takes some effort while GripperTech is easy to setup
2. you are supposed to contact Kuka and get their support when you run into trouble.
3. you are not providing any info, so how can others help you? (no mention of KSS, or UserTech version, no code sample posted...)
But... that's what forum is for...
Here is a basic example on how to use Status Keys on KRC4, KSS8.x running UserTech 3.x
Thanks. I was not the one who made the decision to go with UserTech, just the one left to figure it out. Still waiting to hear back from Kuka support. Guess I could have mentioned I'm running UserTech V3.2.1 on KRC4 KR1000 L750.
Your example should be enough for me to make some progress.
Thank u very much Panic Mode, I was able to integrate my gripper with the sample you gave to us. Maybe it should be provided as replacement of the sample from kuka :-). The UserTech doc is so poor when it come to StatusKey.
Ty again for your valuable support
Noar
no problem...
Well it cost nothing to ask... :
Do you know if there is also one way to monitor the other KEYS status (such as Play/Stop/OV+/OV-)?
(For OV+/- I can monitor the $OV_PRO but since I also write it at least in SPS, that will a bit dirty ...)
it is all the same when using key scan function:
IS_KEY_PRESSED(x)
just change the parameter value and see what you get when different smartPad inputs are active.
i did just that with a small FOR loop in the submit that changes value and displays message when response is detected.
then it took all 30 seconds or so to make following list (covers smartPad and smartPad2). enjoy
11 Stop
12 Run+
13 Run-
14 Stat Key 1 (top)
15 Stat Key 2
16 Stat Key 3
17 Stat Key 4 (bottom)
18 Run+ (Pistolgrip)
20,21 A1 or X -/+
22,23 A2 or Y -/+
24,25 A3 or Z -/+
26,27 A4 or A -/+
28,29 A5 or B -/+
30,31 A6 or C -/+
90/91 Prog_speed -/+
92/93 Jog_Speed -/+
94 Pen/Keyboard
95 Menu
96 disconnect smartPad button
97 E-Stop
98 Mode Switch
99 Enabling switch
btw $OV_JOG and $OV_PRO can be changed from other places (variable monitor, one of interpreters, manually using +/- buttons but also slider on top of the screen)
so detecting precisely what and where caused change could be a challenge...
Thanks a lot panic mode!
