Hi,
My first post so please bear with me.
I have a setup which is:
A KUKA KRC 4 Compact with Agilus Sixx 1100 Robot Arm being used to load a FANUC milling m/c with rectangular blanks.
An OMRON NJ1 PLC which is to be master controller which is also running a 2 axis unit to feed the plates to the robot.
After getting both items working independently our next task is to integrate the two via EtherCAT so that the PLC is the front end and controls both the Robot and the Cycle start of the FANUC m/c.
After speaking to KUKA about this I was informed that we required an EK1100 coupler and an EL6692 EtherCAT bridge, making the PLC Primary and the KRC4 Secondary. Bought parts from Beckhoff and waited 2 weeks for delivery.
Parts arrived and wired in as per diagrams and limited instructions from KUKA/Beckhoff.
Now I came up against an issue configuring the items. Firstly the Robot - turns out I didn't have the latest version of WoV - have since installed the SYS X44 and EL6692 Secondary - which seems ok except I now have an error starting the device (which I think is a configuration issue on the EL6692) as sometimes when we try something in that units configuration, the error will disappear.
On the OMRON PLC, Omron firstly told me that they had no dealings with the device so were therefore unable to provide info/support but after a bit of further digging they revealed they had tried the Beckhoff bridge with two omron NJ PLC's and did infact have a device description file. We recieved it and loaded it into Sysmac Studio and that side appears to be OK.
Now, as I understand from Beckhoff there is some configuration to do on the Primary Side and clearly with my error some on the KUKA Side (probably by means of mapping some I/O's) Thing is after trying many things I am now clueless as to what to try next. We have tried setting outputs high using the Beckhoff configurator and nothing shows on the robot controller, and likewise the same in reverse with no result.
If anyone is carrying out a similar install or can help point us in the right direction as to these mappings or settings of the EL6692 that would be greatly appreciated. If you need any further information please ask and I will do my best to find and provide it.
Many thanks in advance of your great knowledge base,
Matt.
