Just returned from the 5 day Advanced Teach Pendent training at FANUC Robotics America Headquarters. Touched on a lot of great options I was not aware of. I realize there are many Optional functions you can purchase with their products. One piece I wish to use was the Menu Option. I found here at these forums this is a free option that I must get a PAC code to install it. My first call to Fanuc parts was unsuccessful since my company has not set up an account with Fanuc. Sucks that we have to go through this processes for a free option but ok we will either jump through the hoops or I will see if our integrator will complete this process for us. The other option I want to use is the Space check option. I have also found some chat about this here on these forums that its not free, That there is a free choice called space function, that this is DCS that is NOT free. Can someone please clear this up for me. With my short chat with Fanuc parts the other day it seemed they did not want to discuss this until the account was set up. When I call back I want to be well educated about these options. Here is my goal with Space check. In class we use an option that allowed us to define up to 3 cubes. We could not enter these cubes if a Digital input was true and we set a Digital output when in the cube. I have a glue application I would like to hold a conveyor when in the cube. I could us a Reference Position but setting a window for all 6 joints would work but is not as useful as defining the conveyor zone. Specially if I wish to operate outside that zone.

Hello,
You can use space function for what do you want to do. Keep in mind that space function will check for TCP of the robot, not the arm and so on. -
Yes I am aware of the TCP fact. I can not find the Space function Option in the menu. Is this something I also have to get a PAC code to install?

You guys are great. Should I expect to pay through the nose when asking for this option. The past year we have installed we have installed 13 fanuc robots ranging from M-20 to M-2000iB and others with 2 more PO's in processes. I have allot of F#s to collect and prepare when I call.

Just so you understand the full difference between space check and DCS as it results to robots. If you are using two robots in the same zone you should always use Space check versus DCS. According to Fanuc, Space check plays traffic cop, if you will, that one robot always has priority to that zone. DCS doesn't do this hence there is a rare instance that the two robots could arrive at the same time and crash.

My intergrater has quoted me the following:
Menu Utility - $300.00
Basic Interference Check - $925.00Does this sound correct? I read other places that Menu Utility is included but not installed.
-
some 30iA robots came with it as a free option but somewhere through the process they changed 300 bucks. 30iB has always had a cost of 300. Long and short the prices are correct assuming you have a somewhat new robot.

Thank you. We have both 30iA and 30iB all purchaced in the past 18 months. Its good to know they have change their Pricing. I was basing my idea of included from older posts.

I have got Safety space installed ad PAC authorized, but I can not find the option on the menu.
Where do I turn the menu on?FYI Safety space is not Space function, this was a miscommunication between Fanuc and myself. Space Function is part of Basic interface Check, which is a different option and PAC all together.
