Hi Guys,
I thought I would just share the start of a journey with anyone who is interested. I have bought an old Asea IRB L6 robot from the bay of E with very little knowledge of robotics at all. The company whom I bought if from, purchased it to enable them to take on an extra job, which never came off, so has been sat unused for over 12 months. The machine was originally a welding robot and had ESAB's branding all over it. I travelled about 150 miles to pick up the arm and am now awaiting delivery of the control panel. I have found a very useful manual and wiring diagram for this machine on this site already and I'm very eager to plug this thing up and see if she goes.
I have attached a couple of photo's for anyone who is interested. The first one is the sorry state I recieved the arm in and the second photo is how it looks now, nice and shiny
Everything seems to move nice and freely and there is no play in any of the axis. I have built and retrofitted a few CNC machines, so have a fair understanding of the mechanical / electrical side of things, but I was wondering if there was anything I should be aware of before I plug the machine up and test it? (that is, once I get the control panel delivered
Thanks in advance!
