I doubt it matters, except possibly during reboot.
You are right. I just successfully boot from the Ssd trough Sata to Ide adapter and there are only 10-20% improvement of the drive speed. Not big changes.

I do not think that kuka enabled sata within their bios setup.
You can check that by reading the bios settings (these are kuka settings)
According to your second picture I would assume NO
According the present D1688 motherboard, up to 2 Sata drives is supposed to be connected !
I would try clean HDD copy/clone to the SSD, I was used image restore previosely that may be a different.
Use an IDE SATA converter.
this one:
https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-D…r/dp/B00EOJNGC2
or something similar...
I have been using the robot with such an converter for two years.
Does the IDE SATA converter slows the Ssd write/read speed?
Only Sata port should alow the Ssd high write/read speeds, isn't ?
Hello again,
Krc2, Kss 5.6.12.
I would ask, is it possible to install bootable SSD trough the existing sata port on the motherboard? (refer to the picture below, please).
The backup image of HDD was restored to the SSD which was later connected to one of the existing sata ports on the motherboard.
So far the message "Operative system not found" was present!
Thanks.
We always disable the hibernation. So the robot always make a cold start after power on. For me this is the best way, if your system has a fault that you have never seen, what is the first try to fix it? Normally power off / power on. If hibernation is active the faulty status is saved to hdd and robot starts again in the same faulty state.
You are absolutely right at that point Hermann, but in the same time if everything works fine and the system incidently shuts down, reverting system to the previous working state should not be possible if hibernation is disabled.
By the way, would you give short explanation please, does the "hibernate" check option at krc2 shut down screen influence the "hibernate" option at Windows XPe Power option and vice versa?
Hello,
Krc2, Kss5.6.12.
The system file "hiberfil.sys" which is related to the active hibernation process and is dependent on the size of the installed RAM in my case takes up too much space on the hard drive (shown in the first picture below). At second image is the used hdd space without "hiberfil.sys" file and at third image is the size of "hiberfil.sys" file). This file disappears, freeing up more hard disk space if hibernation in Wndows XPe is turned off.
1. Does hibernation process have to be always active?
2. What are the consequences for the functioning of Kuka system software, if hibernation is turned off?
Thanks in advance.
I am new to Kuka 5,6 axis and have a basic question. I’m used to homing my 3 axis Cnc before each task. Is there an equivalent or similar procedure on a krc2. A button for instance on the teach pendant? I’m just trying to understand how the robot knows where it is before running any program. I want to be confident that it is starting a program from a position I determine.
The simpliest practical way, a certain spatial point in the robot workspace, to be predetermined as a new home position is:
1. Create a new program;
2. Insert PTP (point to point) motion in the program by pressing "Motion" bottom menu button (the beginning of the program line has to be: PTP P1 Vel=10% ...) ;
3. Change the name of that point P1 to HOME;
4. Move/jog the robot end point/tool center point, where the new home position has to be predetermined;
5. Press "Touch Up" bottom menu button
6. Save the program;
The new home position is written (you don't need to execute that program).
it could be coincidence but it is also possible that whatever you did seem to have an effect. so question is what exactly did you do and what is the situation.
I just switch on pc using appropriate jumpers.
At the moment, I have a problem with Submit interpreter, it can not be started and the icon is greyed out.
In that dirrection I received some errors and I probably have to revert some older program files in program directory.
Would you like to give assistance how to solve the following main errors sample:
"Mirror file KRC:\R1\Program\hp248.dat not found on hard disk"
and successivelly
"File KRC:\R1\Program\hp248.dat is only found in the robot system and automatically will be deleted"
Where (in which folder) exactly the same file hp248.dat have to be present at the same time?
Thanks in advance.
It is obvious in cabinet just above the batteries, automatic circuit breaker, marked as FG3. I found it in the technical documentation, too. Thanks.
Hello,
Krc2, Kss 5.6.12.
It's aready mentioned that the Krc2 battery fuses are positioned close to the batteries.
Can anybody post an image, where exactly the battery fuses are placed, please? I have to chek these fuses, but in my case it looks that no wire goes from batteries trough a fuse.
Thanks in advance.
I can find KPCed05 with different article number in ebay..If I buy Can use that
If you buy other one from ebay maybe you will fall in other problems and you will receive no support how to solve them.
I think it is better to send your KPCed5 to service centres other that Kuka and ask them for help. They will also give you support how to install it back to your robotic system.
Before buy enythyng, first give a chance to the hardware you have.
Find a person near you that have personal computer hardware/software installation knowledge.
That person will possibly help you how to reinstall:
1. Windows XPe;
2. Kuka system software
If the robot system components you have are not damaged at least you will start jog the robot.
Actually, the MFC3 Devicenet will be used as well as DSE will be used for comunication between some of the components.
In this case, does the "DeviceNet" and "DSE IO" options have to be selected for installation or "MFC/IOModul" option, only ?
running kss V5.5 and V5.6 with kr c2 DSE IBS 33 is required, therefore there is no KRC2.BIN.
Would you like to assist us, please. Knowing that the following cards are present:
1. Profibus card
2. MFC3 card with DSE IBS 33
Which options have to be selected/installed during Kss 5.6.12 reinstallation, only?
The options also needed for overall system comunications between Krc2 components have to be taken into consideration.
Thanks in advance.
No problem..I give you the right to be angry
KSS version is v5.6.8..
We did not have any problems, but the factory electricity was cut off twice because it was snowing and we had this problem.

Omid, you probably have corupted files on your hard drive due to the incident electricity cut off and empty batteries. I think, reinstalling KSS will not solve your problem. You may need to reinstall Windows XPe, than the KSS. Before that, clone/back up your hard drive, check the hard drive for corupted files, repair them. Due to the luck of administration priviligies none of these activities can be performed from the Kuka controller. Pulling out the hard drive and connecting it to personal Pc may be needed how you can prepare the hard drive for the new installation. Be carefull and good luck.
