I’ve been trying to connect to a fanuc controller through the browser through Ethernet but it doesn’t want to work. As far as I can tell, it has all the relevant hardware/software in it. On the computer it acts like it is there, but never actually connects.
What could I be missing? Is there a manual somewhere that would step me through the process?
Connect to R-30iB through browswer

There's your issue!
See the "A"s? Those need to be a "U" like vision setup on the fourth line.
With the "A" highlighted, press the F3 function key for "UNLOCK", that should change the "A" to a "U".
You can use the arrow keys to navigate to the appropriate line.

These "A" would limit certain actions when the browser is already connected to the robot.
If unable to open the robot home page in the browser, the problem is somewhere else. This statement: "On the computer it acts like it is there, but never actually connects" is confusing. What and how "acts", if no browser connection to the robot?
Use Internet Explorer. If automatically redirected to Edge, set the page to open in Internet Explorer mode. Be sure to add the robot IP address to trusted sites list in the Internet Options/ Security, uncheck the "Require server certification..." for this address.
Ensure both Ethernet ports of the robot not to be configured for the same subnet.

Ok, on the computer acting up, the Edge browser will sit and spin and do nothing and will eventually say it took to long to respond. If I unplug the Ethernet cable, it will immediately quit trying.
If I try and access it through internet explorer, it cannot find the address.
Where exactly do I (add the robot IP address to trusted sites list), and where do I (uncheck the "Require server certification..." for this address.)?
It’s been awhile since worked with any network stuff. I think I must be missing some settings either in the robot or on the computer. Also I’m connecting straight to a computer, no router in between. -
Is your computer on the same subnet as the robot?

In the computer, in the Internet Options/ Security.

Typically, cross-link Ethernet cable should be used for direct connections.
Most modern PCs can work with either straight or cross-link cable, but not all of them. And, yes, AS has a valid point.
