I work for a laboratory that using a KR 16-2 Kuka robot in a pressure washing application that cleans very specialized equipment. with the nature of the application the robot is not used very often. I just looked up the records and it ran a 14 hour cycle 2 months ago! When we started up the robot today, we kept getting AXIS 2 gear over torque. I jogged the robot manually for several minutes the entire time Axis 2 had a squeak when moving. after several minutes of movement we were able to get the robot running in automatic mode.
my question is, "is there a minimum amount of movement that a robot should move in a given time period." for example should each axis move 50% of total range every 72 hours? I don't know.
any advice would help. My plan is to create a program that is called by the PLC after a given amount of time that just moves each axis slowly X% of range every Y hours.
