i had this error several times this week and kept having to power cycle. management thinks it may be a good idea to go ahead and replace the U axis servo and encoder. Is this a very big job? I think removing and installing will be a breeze, i just don't wanna dig myself a hole for when I come back around on the programming side of things. I am sure I will have to reteach the U axis home position, no problem. Does anyone think this will be necessary?

Replacing a U-axis motor generally isn’t bad. All depends on the arm. Does the motor weigh 2 pounds or 300 pounds? Is the arm mounted on the floor or on a 16 foot riser or mounted on top of a machine? Is there clearance to work easily on the arm or do you have to get contorted while leaning over other equipment?
