We have a fixture with a Fanuc servo motor on it and would like to use it as a 7th axis with a Yaskawa NX100 and DX100 controller. Anyone done this?

It isn't possible connect other brand to the Yaskawa for axis 7 or more, i think you must to use an PLC for control your servo motor, you must give it pulse with PLC for turn it. The notice is, the servo motor is not sync with the robot.

Thanks for the info TSGIR.

Do you mean NX100 or DX100?
Check with the positioner manufacturer and see if they have a Motoman/Yaskawa version. They may be able to supply much of the parts to make it Motoman/Yaskawa compatible.
Have seen positioners converted from one manufacturer to another at a used robot integrator with much of the parts and an in-house engineering machine shop. It involves matching an appropriate size Yaskawa motor & feedback usually removed from a similar vintage robot, UP50 or 130N for example. Adapters for the motor mounting and the gear have to be custom made. Install appropriate sized 7th axis amplifier setup and cabling.
It may be easier to find a used compatible positioner and sell the current one to help offset the costs.
