I am wanting to purchase PCMCIA Memory Cards for our Fancu R-30iB controllers for the purpose of configuring the robot to conduct an auto backup of the TPP once a week or so. However, when I asked for a quote from Fanuc the card was over $1,000. I have heard of people installing compatible PCMCIA cards at a substantially cheaper price. Does anyone have any details with regard to the card I am speaking of?

I've had great luck with the SanDisk Compact Flash cards 2G and then an adapter. Amazon has these and no where near that price!

You can get every thing you need at Best Buy, or office max. We also use the Sandisk compact flash adapter, and 2GB compact flash cards. We also use A multi format card reader to transfer the files to A PC.
We have been told that cards over 2GB sometimes will not work. I don't know why, but we only use 2GB cards and have had no problems. Think the whole set up cost us about $35.00. You have to manually do this.
Not A big deal we do it monthly. Will save you many hours if for some reason something bad happens. -
The fanuc quote is so high, because it is for 100 of them.

Thanks, Keyboard7. All of our robots have the Auto backup feature loaded which allows us to setup the robot to do an auto backup periodically (once a day, once a week, etc.). Are you saying that if I buy the adapter and Sandisk card from Best Buy that I would have to manually do the backup? I would think that as long as the card/adapter were the appropriate type I would be able to configure the auto backup.

Our robot does not have the auto back up feature, it is an old version. This is just how we do it. Am not sure what your robots options are. We have to plug in the compact flash adapter every time.
